El Paso Locomotive FC is looking for a skilled and experienced Manager, Communications and Media Relations to perform a variety of media relations, communications, and team relations tasks.
Manager, Communications and Media Relations job duties include but are not limited to:
- Serve as the day-to-day communications contact for El Paso Locomotive FC, working with internal departments, players, and technical staff to plan and execute internal and external media/content opportunities daily
- Plan, write, and execute team-related press releases for all transactions including player acquisitions, trades, and other operations announcements
- Plan, write, and execute elements for the team website, media guide, game notes, and other relevant publications and materials including biographies, web content, and a variety of other pieces, as needed
- Work closely with Sr. Director, Marketing and Communications and, General Manager, Business Operations to support Club-wide marketing, ticket sales, corporate partnership, and broadcasting initiatives
- Foster relationships with other departments to stay informed of marketing initiatives
- Assist in media availability sessions with players and coaches, including daily post-practice and post-game availability, as well as any special Locomotive FC announcements
- Assist in facilitating media interviews, at training and in-studio, with Locomotive players, coaches and front office executives
- Develop and distribute written Club communications (match recaps/previews, player announcements, Club events, Coaches Show, etc.)
- Build relationships and work closely with USL and league-wide communications personnel, broadcast partners, and media across the soccer landscape
- Develop and nurture relationships with local, national, and international press (including English and Spanish-language)
- Coordinate press conferences for major announcements and post-game interviews
- Attend training sessions and coordinate interviews with head coach and players
- Manage and plan social media marketing initiatives with Manager, Marketing & Digital Strategies
- Development of post-announcement and post-event media coverage and benchmarking reports as needed for the executive team
- Understand the current media landscape, including how digital/social has altered news consumption habits
- Ability to travel and work weekends required
- Qualifications:
- A successful Manager, Communications and Media Relations should be familiar with professional soccer, the El Paso region, and the USL Championship.
- Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of related work experience with progressive responsibilities in a similar role.
- Strong desire to be involved in daily writing responsibilities with an innate ability to produce quality first drafts.
- Flexibility and ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
- Excellent editing and proofreading skills.
- Strong knowledge of professional soccer and the USL Championship.
- Solid communications skills through verbal and written channels.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others and be a strong and willing contributor to project teams.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Bilingual fluency/proficiency both verbal and written Spanish a plus but not required.
- Self-starter, go-getter mentality.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines, long hours, weekends, and holidays with some travel.
- Required to work in the El Paso area, and be open to relocation as this is an onsite (in office) position, with daily hours present in the office.
