SUMMARY
The Head Groundskeeper plays a key role in the daily maintenance and management of the sports turf fields and landscape areas at the complex. The El Paso Locomotive has a state-of-the-art training and practice facility on a campus not far from Southwest University Park.
JOB DUTIES
- Ensure all sports fields are held up to professional standard.
- Run an effective, detailed, and proactive maintenance or playing surfaces, surrounding landscape areas, the common grounds, including but not limited to, litter control, mowing and trimming, seeding, painting, fertilization and weed management, irrigation, and maintaining of turf equipment.
- Manage inventory of grounds materials including ordering and tracking material usage.
- Responsible for grounds budget and tracking of the budget.
- Do regular field inspections to ensure the quality and safety of the playing fields at all times.
- Ensure the safe and proper operation of all equipment. Making sure it remains safe, clean and in operable condition.
- Manage all landscape areas including all trees and shrubs around the complex.
- Manage and maintain all irrigation along with watering schedules.
- Training of seasonal/full time employees that are on staff.
- All other duties assigned.
EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS
- Required to work long hours standing and walking around during season and events.
- Sitting, standing, walking, reaching with arms and hands, climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, or crouching are all part of this position.
- Must be able to handle weather related elements such as rain and heat.
- Experience: Must have at least 2 to 3 years’ experience in sports turf on a soccer or football field.
