El Paso Locomotive FC is seeking a strong intern to support the club’s media relations and digital content. This role will support amplifying the Locomotive brand through strategic storytelling, media relations, and digital content creation while also assisting with communications for the Locomotive Academy and Youth Soccer Programs. The ideal candidate is a passionate communicator with strong writing skills, with a deep understanding of soccer culture.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as media contact for El Paso Locomotive FC, coordinating press inquiries, interviews, and media availabilities.
  • Write and distribute press releases, game previews/recaps, and feature stories to generate media coverage, as reviewed by management.
  • Coordinate press box operations on matchdays, ensuring proper credentialing, media seating, and gameday communication materials.
  • Support the development of engaging written, visual, and multimedia content for the club’s website, social media channels, and other platforms.
  • Assist in managing the club’s social media accounts, providing real-time updates, match coverage, and behind-the-scenes content.
  • Work closely with the creative team to produce digital assets, graphics, and video content.
  • Assist in promoting the Locomotive Academy and Youth Soccer Programs through digital storytelling, social media content.
  • Coordinate media opportunities and content related to Academy teams, player development, and community partnerships.
  • Assist with press conferences, media scrums, and post-match interviews.

Qualifications
  • Candidate must be either a recent college graduate or about to graduate, and can work in the El Paso area.
  • Must be pursing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience managing social media accounts preferred.
  • Knowledge of soccer and experience in a professional or youth sports environment preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and matchdays.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, etc.) and social media management tools is a plus.
  • Ability to speak Spanish is a plus but not required.
This internship pays a monthly stipend for living expenses, plus an hourly rate of $10 per hour for all games, as well as media assignments.
