El Paso Locomotive Youth Soccer, in partnership with our U20 USL Reserve Team, is seeking a dedicated, full-time Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) to lead and manage the medical care, injury prevention, and rehabilitation services for our U20 USL Academy squad while also supporting our broader academy structure. This position plays a vital role in the player development pathway within the El Paso Locomotive system and requires a highly organized, proactive professional capable of operating in both high-performance and youth development environments.

The Athletic Trainer will serve as the primary medical provider for the U20 USL Academy team, maintain structured weekly treatment hours, and provide ongoing support across academy programming.

Primary Responsibilities

U20 USL Reserve Team (Primary Assignment)
  • Serve as the primary Athletic Trainer for the U20 USL Academy team.
  • Provide medical coverage for all scheduled training sessions, matches, and team travel.
  • Ensure the completion of pre-participation physicals and all required medical release clearance forms.
  • Evaluate and manage acute and chronic injuries.
  • Develop and oversee individualized rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols.
  • Maintain detailed injury documentation and player medical records.
  • Coordinate referrals with physicians and medical professionals when necessary.
  • Travel with the team as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned/needed

Weekly Treatment & Clinical Hours
  • Maintain a consistent, fixed weekly treatment schedule at the designated training room location (twice weekly.)
  • Provide injury evaluation, manual therapy, taping, bracing, and recovery protocols.
  • Monitor player recovery and performance readiness.
  • Communicate on player well-being to appropriate program director.

Academy & Girls Program Support
  • Attend one weekly training session with academy teams .
  • Attend one weekly session with the girl's program trainings (UTEP)
  • Provide on-site injury evaluation and support during assigned sessions.
  • Assist in implementing injury prevention programming across teams.

Club-Wide Responsibilities
  • Attend all scheduled weekly youth soccer staff meetings (once a week.)
  • Provide medical support at club events, camps, and clinics as scheduling permits.
  • Maintain proper medical standards in correspondence with NATA guidelines and US Soccer guidelines
  • Maintain Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for all training and match venues.
  • Maintain proper inclement weather safety protocol and coordination.
  • Ensure AEDs and medical equipment are accessible and operational.
  • Track injury trends and provide periodic reports to club leadership.
  • Educate players and parents on injury prevention, hydration, and recovery best practices.
  • Successfully set up fields for games and training to promote a safe environment for athletes.
  • Collaborate with Academy staff to ensure proper field setup and medical coverage for every home game.
  • Help ensure smooth communication between parents, coaches, players, and necessary Academy staff.
  • Acquisition and management of inventory and medical equipment.

Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field.
  • Current Board of Certification (BOC) certification.
  • Completion of background check and SafeSport registration.
  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Texas/New Mexico.
  • Current CPR/AED certification.
  • Passport OR valid driver's license with Real ID for airplane travel
  • Ability and eligibility to legally operate a 15-passenger vehicle.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualification:
  • Experience working with elite youth or pre-professional soccer teams.
  • Familiarity with USL, high-performance soccer environments, academy systems and/or collegiate environments.
  • Experience in multi-team coverage environments.
  • Billingual (English and Spanish)
  • CPR/AED certification 

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during training and match coverage.
  • Ability to respond immediately to on-field emergencies.
  • Ability to lift and transport medical equipment.
  • Ability to travel with team as needed.
