Detroit City FC (DCFC) is a progressive, community-driven professional soccer club that embodies the spirit of Detroit’s resilience and pride. Known for its passionate supporter base and commitment to inclusivity, DCFC has become a symbol of innovation and connection, fostering meaningful relationships with fans, businesses, and the local community. As a member of the United Soccer League, DCFC is dedicated to excellence both on and off the pitch.
With an eye towards future growth, DCFC is preparing for a transformative milestone: the opening of a new stadium, AlumniFi Field in 2027. To that end, the club is dedicated to winning matches, promoting the sport of soccer, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, authentic storytelling, and making our city a safer and more equitable place.
Position Purpose
Detroit City FC is looking for a high-potential, detail-oriented Business Strategy Specialist to join our front office. This is an entry-level position designed for a tech- savvy professional who wants to build a career in sports business analytics and revenue operations.
You will be the “engine room” of our digital communication and CRM efforts. Reporting directly to the Manager of Business Strategy, your primary focus will be executing our email marketing strategy, maintaining the integrity of our Salesforce CRM, and assisting with data visualization projects as we prepare for our new stadium launch.
Key Responsibilities
Email Marketing & Execution
- Deployment: Act as the final “send” point for all club email communications. You will collect assets (copy, graphics, links) from various departments and assemble them within Mailchimp/email marketing solution.
- Audience Health: Monitor email deliverability, bounce rates, and unsubscribes to ensure our sender reputation remains high.
- Segmentation: Identify specific fan lists from the CRM to ensure we are sending the right message to the right fan at the right time.
CRM & Data Support
- Salesforce Support: Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for Salesforce needs, helping the sales team track their deals and ensuring data flows correctly from our ticketing and email platforms.
- Dashboarding: Assist in building and maintaining business dashboards in Sigma and Salesforce to track ticket sales, parking revenue, and fan engagement.
- Special Projects: Assist with ad-hoc projects related to the stadium transition, such as organizing lead lists for stadium deposits and waitlists.
- Mobile App Ownership: Serve as the club’s internal owner of the Detroit City FC mobile app. Act as the primary liaison with our third-party app vendor, monitor app performance and engagement metrics, and surface data-driven insights to inform decisions around the fan experience. While the marketing team leads on content, this role ensures the app is functioning properly, KPIs are being tracked, and vendor relationships are managed effectively.
Match Day Responsibilities
- Live Data Monitoring: Assist with “Mission Control” duties on match days, monitoring live attendance and sales dashboards to provide real-time updates to the leadership team.
- Operational Support: Provide high-level support to the business strategy and box office departments to ensure a seamless fan experience.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business Analytics,Marketing, or a related field.
- Aptitude: High potential for learning complex software. While experience is a plus, a “power-user” mindset for technology is a requirement.
- Attention to Detail: Must be obsessed with the small things—checking links, proofreading tags, and ensuring data is entered correctly.
- Collaboration: A team-first attitude with the willingness to “fill the cracks” and help wherever the club needs it most.
- Tools: Proficiency in Excel is a must. Familiarity with Salesforce, Mailchimp, and/or Sigma is highly preferred.
