Corpus Christi FC is seeking a skilled and experienced Manager of Communications and Media Relations to lead a wide range of media, communications, and team relations efforts.
Key Responsibilities
The Manager of Communications and Media Relations will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Serving as the primary day-to-day communications contact for the club, collaborating with internal departments, players, and technical staff to plan and execute media and content opportunities
- Planning, writing, and distributing press releases for team transactions, including player acquisitions, trades, and other organizational announcements
- Creating and managing written content for the team website, media guide, game notes, and other publications, including player and staff biographies
- Working closely with the Club President, General Manager, and Business Operations team to support marketing, ticket sales, corporate partnerships, and broadcasting initiatives
- Building strong relationships across departments to stay aligned with marketing campaigns and organizational priorities
- Coordinating and supporting media availability sessions with players and coaches, including post-practice and post-game interactions
- Facilitating media interviews at training sessions, in-studio, and during special events with players, coaches, and front office staff
- Developing and distributing club communications such as match previews and recaps, player announcements, and event coverage
- Maintaining relationships with league communications staff, broadcast partners, and media outlets across the soccer industry
- Cultivating relationships with local, national, and international media, including both English- and Spanish-language outlets
- Organizing press conferences for major announcements and managing post-game media operations
- Attending training sessions and coordinating interview opportunities with coaches and players
- Collaborating with Marketing and Digital teams to plan and execute social media strategies
- Producing media coverage reports and performance benchmarks following major announcements and events
- Staying informed on the evolving media landscape, particularly digital and social media trends
- Traveling as needed and working evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
- At least one (1) year of relevant professional experience with increasing responsibility in a similar role
- Strong writing skills with the ability to produce high-quality first drafts quickly
- Excellent editing and proofreading abilities
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of professional soccer and the USL preferred
- Familiarity with the Coastal Bend region is a plus
- Ability to work collaboratively and contribute effectively within a team environment
- High level of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required
- Self-motivated with a proactive, “go-getter” mindset
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with some travel required
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to Corpus Christi, Texas; this is an onsite position requiring daily in-office presence
