Switchbacks FC is seeking a Director of Marketing with a strong creative eye and hands-on, execution-focused approach to lead the club’s marketing, creative, content, and communications efforts. Working closely with the VP of Sales & Marketing, this role will turn marketing strategy into effective campaigns, content, and experiences that drive awareness, attendance, fan engagement, revenue, and brand growth.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable developing creative concepts, providing direction to designers and content creators, building campaign plans, managing teams and timelines, and getting into the details to ensure work gets done. They should bring strong creative judgment, project management skills, and a passion for creating memorable fan experiences.

Compensation
This role pays an annual salary of $68,000-$75,000.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with the VP of Sales & Marketing to develop and execute marketing initiatives aligned with organizational, revenue, attendance, and fan engagement goals
  • Lead the Content, Creative, Communications, and LEP functions, providing strategic and creative direction for Switchbacks FC, Weidner Field and other organizational entities. 
  • Develop and execute integrated campaigns across creative, content, digital, social, email, advertising, communications, and in-stadium channels
  • Provide creative direction across design, photography, video, content, copy, and campaigns, bringing a strong creative eye and ensuring work is compelling and on-brand
  • Lead creative, content and communications team, balancing creative development, team leadership, and day-to-day execution.
  • Oversee marketing execution on matchdays, including LEP, press box, content capture, communications, and in-stadium elements.
  • Lead content planning and capture across matches, events, promotions, community initiatives, and key club moments.
  • Partner with Ticketing, Partnerships, Merchandise, Operations, and Events to develop campaigns that support revenue goals, fan engagement, and sponsor commitments.
  • Provide creative and marketing direction for matchdays, theme nights, promotions, community initiatives, and events.
  • Manage campaign timelines, workflows, assets, and deliverables to ensure work is organized, efficient, and delivered on time.
  • Monitor performance and audience insights to refine creative, improve execution, and drive stronger results.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in marketing, creative, content, communications, sports, entertainment, or live events
  • Experience executing integrated marketing campaigns across digital, social, email, advertising, content, and in-stadium channels
  • Strong creative eye and judgment, with the ability to develop concepts, provide creative direction, and identify compelling visual storytelling opportunities
  • Strong understanding of content capture, including photography and video, and creative production workflows
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders, and deadlines
  • Experience leading creative and/or content teams
  • Ability to balance creative vision, strategic thinking, and hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for sports, soccer, and creating memorable fan experiences preferred
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud preferred
  • Working knowledge of Daktronics systems and live event production workflows highly desirable
  • Familiarity with Tripleplay Digital Signage software a plus

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in both office and outdoor stadium environments
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during matches and events
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions
