The Carolina Ascent FC Fan Experience Team is responsible for creating a fun, welcoming, and memorable tailgate experience for our supporters before every home match. Team Members help transform our tailgates into an exciting gathering place by setting up event spaces, engaging with fans, facilitating games and activities, and ensuring every guest has a great experience before heading into the stadium.
This is a seasonal, part-time position that is ideal for college students or individuals who enjoy sports, interacting with people, and working in a fast-paced live event environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Pregame
Assist with blocking off and preparing the designated tailgate area.
- Set up tents, tables, chairs, signage, games, and other event equipment.
- Help organize tailgate activities and ensure all areas are ready before fans arrive.
- Welcome and interact with fans as they enter the tailgate.
- Create an energetic and inviting atmosphere while representing Carolina Ascent FC.
- Assist Sassy, the Carolina Ascent mascot, with appearances, fan interactions, and any additional needs.
During the Tailgate
Engage with fans of all ages and encourage participation in tailgate activities.
- Oversee lawn games and drinking games, including cornhole, beer pong, cage soccer and any other activations, ensuring they are played safely and fairly.
- Assist with organizing and running soccer tennis tournaments, volleyball tournaments, and other fan competitions.
- Help maintain a fun, high-energy environment by interacting with supporters and keeping activities moving.
- Monitor equipment and activity areas to ensure they remain clean, organized, and safe.
- Provide general event support wherever needed.
Base Camp Bash (Home Opener & Final Home Match)
For the Home Opener and Final Home Match, the Base Camp Bash expands into a large-scale fan festival featuring local vendors, food trucks, inflatables, live entertainment, and additional activations.
Responsibilities may include:
Assisting vendors with load-in and setup.
- Helping coordinate activity areas, inflatables, and special attractions.
- Supporting event logistics and crowd flow throughout the festival.
- Providing additional assistance to event partners, performers, and Game Day Leadership as needed.
Post Tailgate
Begin breakdown of tents, tables, chairs, games, signage, and equipment.
- Assist with cleanup of the entire tailgate area.
- Help direct fans toward American Legion Memorial Stadium as kickoff approaches.
- Ensure all equipment is properly packed and stored.
- Assist with any additional post-event responsibilities assigned by Game Day Leadership.

- Comfortable interacting with large crowds and fans of all ages.
- Ability to remain standing and walking for extended periods.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Dependable, punctual, and professional.
- Ability to work well as part of a team while following directions from Game Day Leadership.
- Previous experience in sports, entertainment, promotions, customer service, or event operations is preferred but not required.
Fan Experience Team Members can expect to work approximately 5–6 hours per home match, depending on game day assignments and operational needs.
Opportunities to work additional club events, community events, and special activations may become available throughout the season.
Schedule
This is a seasonal, part-time position that works all Carolina Ascent FC home matches and select special events. Team members are expected to arrive several hours before kickoff to assist with tailgate setup, work throughout the pregame festivities, and remain through breakdown and cleanup responsibilities until dismissed by Game Day Leadership
2026 Tentative Carolina Ascent FC Home Tailgate Schedule
Saturday, August 29 – Home Opener (Base Camp Bash)
- Saturday, September 26
- Saturday, October 31
- Saturday, November 28 – Final Regular Season Home Match (Base Camp Bash)
Additional matches, playoff games, club events, and schedule changes may be added throughout the season. We are aiming for one fan-tastic tailgate per month, with the possibility of expanding and implementing more in the 2027 season.
