Position Overview
The Community Relations & Special Events Intern will support the planning, coordination, and execution of community outreach initiatives and special events for Carolina Ascent FC and Charlotte Independence professional soccer teams. This role is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented individual looking to gain hands-on experience in sports management, event planning, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Community Relations Support
- Assist in organizing and executing community outreach programs, including youth clinics, charity events, and public appearances
- Track and report on community engagement activities and impact
- Take charge of Game Day traditions and be the main point of contact
Special Events Coordination
- Support the planning and execution of game-day operations
- Assist with pre-event logistics, including vendor coordination, materials preparation, and site setup
- Provide on-site event support, ensuring smooth operations and positive fan experiences
- Help manage event timelines, checklists, and post-event recaps
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Sports Management or a related field
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and game days
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Passion for sports and community engagement
