Overview of Brooklyn Football Club Brooklyn FC is defining the future of soccer in America. In 2024, Brooklyn played in its inaugural season of the USL Super League team and in 2026 will launch a USL Championship team. We represent the 77 neighborhoods in the Brooklyn borough and are dedicated to uplifting our community through our global sport. This position is specifically for the 2026 USL Championship season.

Position Title: Strength and Conditioning Coach
Position Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate - $70,000 - $75,000

Position Overview

The Strength and Performance Coach plays a critical role in the holistic development and physical performance of the players. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing all aspects of the team’s strength, conditioning, and recovery programs, ensuring players are physically prepared to perform at their peak throughout the season. The role requires close collaboration with the Head Coach, Medical Team, and Performance Analysts to create a fully integrated approach to player development, injury prevention, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities
Physical Preparation & Conditioning
  • Design, implement, and oversee individualized and team-based strength and conditioning programs aligned with the club’s playing philosophy and competition demands.
  • Develop and execute progressive periodization models to ensure players reach peak performance at critical stages of the season.
  • Create position-specific conditioning protocols to match the tactical and physical demands of each role on the field.
  • Lead warm-ups, activation sessions, and recovery protocols during training and on matchdays.
  • Monitor player fitness, fatigue, and readiness levels using GPS and other performance data tools.

Performance Monitoring & Analysis
  • Utilize GPS-based and other performance monitoring technologies to track player workload, acceleration, deceleration, high-speed running, and other key physical metrics.
  • Work collaboratively with performance analysts to interpret data and provide actionable insights to the coaching staff.
  • Regularly report on player physical status, fitness progress, and injury risk indicators to the Head Coach and Sporting Director.

Injury Prevention & Recovery
  • Coordinate closely with the medical and physiotherapy staff to manage player load, recovery, and return-to-play protocols.
  • Implement preventive training methods focused on mobility, stability, and strength balance.
  • Support post-match and post-training recovery sessions to optimize regeneration and reduce injury risk.

Collaboration & Communication
  • Work directly with the Head Coach to integrate physical objectives into technical and tactical training sessions.
  • Ensure clear communication between the performance, medical, and coaching departments regarding player health and performance.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings to align on team objectives and performance plans.
  • Support youth development staff in aligning physical performance methodologies across the club’s player pathway.

Player Development & Education
  • Educate players on best practices in nutrition, hydration, sleep, and lifestyle habits that impact performance.
  • Develop and maintain individualized player reports detailing physical development and areas for improvement.
  • Provide guidance to players during injury rehabilitation phases to support effective and safe reintegration to training.

Matchday & Travel Responsibilities
  • Be present for all home, away, and exhibition matches to oversee player preparation and readiness.
  • Manage pre-match warm-up, halftime activation, and post-match recovery sessions.
  • Oversee player physical routines during travel to ensure consistent performance standards.

Club Representation & Professional Standards
  • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Represent Brooklyn FC positively in all club activities, community events, and public appearances.
  • Contribute to the overall performance culture of the organization through collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Carry out any additional duties assigned by the Head Coach or Sporting Director.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Performance, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or equivalent certification (e.g., NASM, NSCA).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in strength and conditioning, preferably in a professional sports environment, with soccer experience highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in using performance monitoring technologies (e.g., GPS, heart rate monitors, force plates) and data analysis software.
  • Strong understanding of periodization, exercise physiology, biomechanics, and sports nutrition.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to adapt programs and coaching styles to individual player needs and team objectives.

Capabilities & Other Characteristics

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by team schedules and travel demands.
  • Must be able to travel extensively with the team for away matches and training camps.
  • Physically able to be on their feet for extended periods, demonstrate exercises, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • May be required to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Proactive and able to complete assigned tasks independently and in high-pressure situations.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
