Boston Bolts Overview
The Boston Bolts possess more than 40 years of experience in bringing the world’s game to communities across Massachusetts. In addition to overseeing youth teams across a full developmental pathway, the Boston Bolts participate in the USL, the largest and fastest-growing professional soccer organization in North America, with a team in the USL League Two. 

The Boston Bolts are a growing organization that looks for team members to grow with it. The internship is hands-on, allowing successful candidates the opportunity to learn in a professional environment and experience a dynamic organization first-hand. The Bolts are searching for a hardworking, self-starter who is motivated to make contributions to the organization’s continuous growth and seeks a career in sports management.

Position Description
The Community Relations Intern will help bring Bolts events to life, connect with the Boston Bolts community and develop problem solving skills while learning how a professional sports organization works. This individual will work on all aspects of the club and will have the opportunity to implement operational plans for a wide range of events. We are looking for a driven candidate, with an emphasis on organization, professionalism and enthusiasm.

Position Timeline
This position will run from May 20th through August 20th, 2026. 

Primary Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with the Bolts Development & Community Relations Director in day-to-day implementation of scheduled initiatives
  • Assist the planning and execution of high-impact community engagement events, ensuring seamless operations and high-quality experiences for participants.
  • Help direct in-stadium USL2 game day operations and ensure all is executed in a professional manner
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment between community needs, team initiatives, and sponsor objectives.
  • Design and execute community-driven initiatives that address social causes such as education, health & wellness, military & first responders, and social justice.
  • Maintain internal databases to assist in community outreach programs
  • Additional tasks as assigned


Qualifications
  • Quick learner who can function in the fast-paced environment mandated by the sports industry
  • Ability to successfully manage several projects at once and prioritize assignments
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Prior event management / gameday operations experience strongly preferred
  • Able and willing to travel up to 10% 
  • Must be able and willing to work at office locations in Newton, MA
  • Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed


Application & Compensation
The candidate must be enrolled in college or university at the time of the internship. Because internships at the Bolts are educational experiences, they are unpaid. However, the Bolts will provide a stipend to assist with your expenses while participating in the internship program. You must secure your own housing and transportation and be present in-office throughout the week.
