Position Overview
Atlético Dallas is hiring an Assistant Turf Manager to support the management of MoneyGram Soccer Park, a premier 19-field natural grass soccer complex in Dallas, Texas. The Assistant Sports Turf Manager will work closely with the Sports Turf Manager to ensure all playing surfaces and common turf areas are maintained to the highest standards of safety, performance, and appearance.
This full-time position reports to the Sports Turf Manager and supervises two Turf Technicians. It is an on-call position for weather or emergency response but does not require regular weekend event coverage.
Primary Responsibilities*
- Assist in the planning and execution of all agronomic practices including mowing, fertilization, aerification, topdressing, pest control, and irrigation.
- Directly supervise, schedule, and train Turf Technicians to ensure daily tasks are completed to standards.
- Operate and maintain turf maintenance equipment, including robotic field painters, GPS-guided sprayers, and fairway mowers.
- Support the implementation of turf health monitoring programs and provide data to the Sports Turf Manager for decision-making.
- Assist with field inspections to identify issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform irrigation troubleshooting, repairs, and routine maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of fertilizer, pesticide, and cultural practice applications.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with the Sports Turf Manager, third-party contractors, and facility operations staff.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations at all times.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in sports turf management, golf course maintenance, or related field.
- Degree, certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related discipline preferred.
- An understanding of turf maintenance practices including mowing, fertility, aeration, and pest management.
- Basic knowledge of irrigation systems, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Willingness to learn and operate advanced turf technology (robotic painters, GPS sprayers).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to lead small teams and work independently when needed.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to weather-related or emergency field issues.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, climb stairs, lift/move up to 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus but not required.

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $45,000 – $55,000 (based on experience and qualifications)
- Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
