Position Description

Based in Atlanta, GA and reporting to Director, Alumni Program, the Sr. Coordinator Alumni Program, Events will assist with and have responsibilities related to administration support, match engagement, and logistics for in-person and virtual experiences within the Alumni Program department. This pertains to alumni specific programs and matchday experiences before, during and after the event through collaboration with internal departments as well as external vendors and presenters.  

The Sr. Coordinator will be a part of a team that focuses on the alumni of the men’s, women’s and extended national teams of U.S. Soccer through communications, programming, relationships and support. This role will work closely with others in the alumni program department as well as the events, partnership marketing, advancement, and National Training Center staff, among others at U.S. Soccer. 

The ideal candidate is someone who has a passion for soccer and understands the game, and has experience working in sports events, specifically with athletes. The candidate would also have experience executing development and support programs from start to finish with a focus on athlete experience. Success in this role will come from working well with others, being able to see the bigger picture of engagement between U.S. Soccer and alumni, while also being detail oriented and able to execute programs. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assisting in coordinating matchday operations related to alumni
  • Organizing and supporting virtual webinars, including scheduling, registrations, and technical logistics
  • Coordinating in-person educational sessions and gatherings, ensuring effective planning, setup, and participant experience
  • Assisting in planning and coordination of Friends and Family program
  • Assisting with external vendors and presenters related to event planning and execution
  • Supporting and managing National Training Center (NTC) engagements related to alumni, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines
  • Tracking and managing event RSVPs and attendance
  • Collaborating on attendee communications pre- and post-event including but not limited to know-before-you-go and event surveys
  • Managing event logistics through coordination with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Managing contracts and invoices to ensure compliance with organizational policies, vendor requirements, and applicable regulations
  • Assisting in department tracking on key initiatives and KPIs
  • Creating post-event recaps and reports for internal strategy use
  • Supporting the Director, Alumni Program with administrative tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field required
  • 3+ years of experience working in the sports industry with players or alumni 
  • Strong relationship builder
  • Experience in executing events
  • Experience working around athletes
  • Experience in administrative support
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Must be able to connect the "micro" details to the "macro" vision and mission
  • Strong strategic thinking, communication skills, and comfort working in a fast-paced mission-drive, high-performance environment
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • General knowledge of soccer
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)

Travel
  • Approximately 20-25%
  • May require international travel. Valid passport required.
