Position Description
The Manager, YNT Performance Science will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of integrated sport science practices for the YNT talent development pathway (U23-U15). As a member of the Integrated Performance Support Team, you will work closely with personnel from National Team Coaching, Goalkeeping, Administration, and Talent Identification. Your role will involve contributing to the development and enhancement of a world-class performance support system. A focus will also be on supporting U.S. Soccer's Female 360 initiatives, helping the team to become world leading in its female-centered approach.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee the delivery of performance support services to the YNT program, including monitoring, physical performance testing, strength and conditioning, recovery, and nutritional provision in alignment with U.S. Soccer standards and camp objectives
- Manage and develop all full-time and part-time YNT Performance Science staff, including both performance coaches and performance scientists.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clubs, universities, and international partners to support the bilateral exchange of information and player-related data
- Help manage the staffing, onboarding, and performance standards of full-time and network professionals in collaboration with the Senior Manager, Sports Science
- Educate and mentor staff on U.S. Soccer’s Integrated Performance Support practices, while contributing to the broader development of a world-class training environment
- Support the development of internal resources required within the greater Integrated Performance Support Department
- Facilitate alignment along the WNT, U23 WNT, and WYNT talent pathway to support player transitions and long-term development
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development opportunities
- Participate in regular performance appraisals with WNT and WYNT leadership as part of an individual growth and development initiative
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Sport & Exercise Science or a related field
- Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS) or international equivalent certification
- Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or international equivalent certification
- Minimum of 5-7 years of applied experience working with elite athletes, preferably in female soccer
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in managing comprehensive projects and performance staff members
- General knowledge of soccer
- Capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments
- Must be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and mission
- Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
Desired Qualifications
- PhD in Sport & Exercise Science or a related field
- Knowledge and experience of performance requirements for both adult and youth players
- Experience working in collaboration with coaches and interdisciplinary support staff
- Significant experience working with sport technology systems (e.g., GPS, heart rate, force plates, etc.)
- Excellent planning, organizational, and leadership skills
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Passion for soccer and advancing elite women’s sport
- Previous experience with a club and/or national team
