Position Description
The Facility Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and reliability of the National Training Center’s building systems. The NTC is a 200-acre campus, with over 300,000sq ft of facilities. This hands-on role serves as the technical lead for all core infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and building automation systems. Working within a small and growing facilities team, the Facility Engineer performs maintenance and repairs directly while also overseeing vendors, supporting compliance efforts, and establishing preventive maintenance programs and operating standards for a world-class, multi-use facility.
Primary Responsibilities
Building Systems & Technical Operations
- Perform hands-on operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and building automation systems.
- Monitor system performance to ensure reliability, efficiency, and occupant comfort.
- Respond to and resolve system issues, alarms, and failures in a timely and professional manner.
- Support commissioning, seasonal changeovers, and system optimization.
- Respond to emergency situations involving facility infrastructure.
Preventive Maintenance & Reliability
- Implement and execute preventive maintenance programs for all assigned building systems.
- Track equipment warranties and service agreements, ensuring required maintenance is performed in accordance with warranty terms.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend corrective actions or capital improvements.
- Support asset lifecycle planning by tracking equipment condition, warranty status, and replacement timelines.
Compliance, Safety & Documentation
- Support compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and inspection requirements.
- Perform and document routine testing of critical systems.
- Maintain system documentation, manuals, drawings, warranties, and service records.
- Assist with audits, inspections, warranty claims, and corrective actions.
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Coordinate and oversee vendors and contractors.
- Ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with scope and warranty requirements.
- Coordinate warranty-related service calls with vendors and manufacturers.
- Provide technical input on vendor selection and scopes of work.
Event & Operations Support
- Support facility readiness for events, training camps, meetings, and activations.
- Provide on-site technical support during events.
- Coordinate with Hospitality, Security, IT, and other departments.
People & Team Leadership
- Serve as a working lead within the facilities team.
- Promote a safety-first, service-oriented culture.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new facilities staff.
Other Duties
- Support special projects, system upgrades, warranty transitions, and operational initiatives.
- Assist the Senior Manager of Facility Operations with standards and workflows.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in building engineering or facilities maintenance.
- Strong hands-on experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Experience coordinating vendors and contractors.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- General knowledge of soccer.
- Capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments.
- Must be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and mission.
- Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in sports facilities or large campuses.
- Technical certifications related to HVAC or building systems.
- Experience with newly constructed facilities.
- Familiarity with CMMS and building automation systems.
- Multilingual skills (Spanish preferred). Passion for soccer.
- General knowledge of soccer.
