Reporting to the EVP of Marketing & Communications, the Senior Vice President of Growth Marketing is responsible for owning conversions, including the integrated marketing operation that turns interest into ticket sales, renewals, and lifelong fans. The SVP acts as a true partner to the Sales and Commercial organization, sharing accountability for revenue streams and working side by side to deliver results.

In this role, you will own audience capture and paid digital media, lifecycle marketing, revenue marketing, the marketing-technology stack, and conversion across every surface where a fan transacts. It works with the Club’s existing analytics and forecasting capability to understand what is working and why, and it serves the fan at every step —while connecting with new audiences and deepening their connection to the Club.

Only in our second season, the San Diego FC still building its foundation. The right leader is someone who has not only operated within a mature organization and owned a revenue number but has also helped build for scale and efficiency - putting the right teams, processes, and tools behind it for long-term growth.  Experience in sports is not a prerequisite – we are equally interested in leaders from media, consumer products, e-commerce, and subscription businesses where growth and retention are the game.

The role demands commercial judgement and a bias toward action. The right leader is analytically driven, customer-obsessed, connects marketing activities to revenue, and has run a disciplined test-and-learn operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • In partnership with the EVP of Marketing & Communications, run the conversion engine of the department — the integrated operation that grows qualified audiences and moves them from first touch to lifelong fandom.
  • Own audience capture and paid digital media.
  • Lead lifecycle marketing across every owned channel, moving fans through their journeys with segmentation, personalization, and retention.
  • Support revenue across all ticketing and product lines, in lockstep with Sales.
  • Build and lead the team that runs acquisition, lifecycle, analytics, and owned channels.
Audience Capture & Paid Media
  • Capture qualified audiences across our channels — performance marketing, lead generation, database growth, and first-party data strategy.
  • Own paid digital campaigns end to end — strategy, the buy, and management of internal teams and/or media agencies — across paid social, search, programmatic, display, and other addressable channels.
Lifecycle Marketing
  • Own everything after someone enters the ecosystem: email, SMS, push, journey design, segmentation, personalization, and retention.
  • Move fans through their journeys from first purchase to season membership to renewal.
Revenue Marketing
  • Support revenue across every ticketing and product line: single-match tickets, season memberships, premium, merchandise, and membership renewals.
Marketing Technology
  • Own the Martech ecosystem — the CRM, customer data, email/SMS/push platforms, analytics, and testing tools, plus the integrations that connect them into one working system.
Conversion Optimization
  • Improve conversion rates through disciplined A/B testing, UX work, and funnel optimization across the website, app, landing pages, ticket purchase funnel, and checkout.
What This Role Will Not Own
  • Brand strategy, creative, social media, content, and PR.
  • Non-digital and brand advertising — TV, radio, out-of-home, and print — including both the creative and the media buying for those channels, which sit with Brand and Creative leadership. As a key partner, you will influence audience and measurement but will not own the spend.
