The Assistant Academy Coach will be an important part of the Youth Academy at San Diego FC.
The main goal at San Diego FC / Right to Dream Academy encompasses main areas of developing the student Athlete. In the word Student Athlete lies more than just working within the game of football. The work must mirror and support the Right to Dream mindset and philosophy.
This role is responsible for developing, fostering and managing human beings where school education and football education are tightly incorporated with each other and therefore must be seen and lived as a holistic journey for both coach and athlete. You will unlock and improve human potential and impact each individual to its maximum working closely with the staff and build collaborative relationships between the peers of talent Developers, the Specific Coaches, the Head of Coaching and to ensure holistic athlete development and potential optimization.

Summary:
- Assistant Academy Coach & individual player developer (football related/pitch orientated)
- The role is to nurture and make talent flourish within our Right to Dream style of play and methodology.
- The role is to be 100% dedicated to educating and implement age-related training concepts within the frames of Right to Dream Style of Player philosophy in closely cooperation with the Head of Coaching
- The role is to be support academy training curriculum and periodization and make them become alive and efficient from theory to practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend and prepare for periodization meetings by-weekly
- Attend and prepare for style of play meetings monthly
- Attend and prepare for daily/weekly planning meetings ahead of training including coordination with specialists
- Conduct daily training sessions and ensure positive involvement of life skills in each and every session.
- Developing on the individual football specific player development programs/evaluations understanding and/or be open to all age-related methodologies.
- Help working on and executing holistic individual development plans with specialist and teachers.
- With the essence in mind “the game is our training: the role is not assessed on its results or trophies, but much more on its ability to develop and to reach and succeed with process-oriented goals.
- Attend and prepare for match days and future games. Be closely aligned with scouting and recruitment department.
- Maintain a line of communication with the staff (School side and Football side) and involvement in the well-being of the student athlete.
- Work closely with all staff, from Human performance, Sports Psychologist in the work of implementing and integrating all sports specific aspects into the program.
- Create a safe and strong developing environment where psychological safety goes hand in hand with accelerated learning concepts.
Education & Experience
- License: while there is no license requirement for this position, it is preferred.
- Experienced youth coaching background at elite level; College or University BS, BA, MS degree a plus
- Deep experience mentoring young student athletes (U10-U14)
- Knowledgeable in child development and learning tools.
- Experience and comfortable working in a structured manner with planning, processes, evaluations and structured individual talks.
- The candidate has cultural experiences learning to adapt and operate in different environments.
- Bilingual - English: fluent (written, spoken) and Spanish: able to communicate in a football context.
- Additional education in Mental Health, Nutrition, Physical Education a plus

- Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including 8 plus hours per day, with or without accommodation.
- Sitting: Ability to sit for extended periods, including 8 plus hours per day, with or without accommodation.
- Bending and Stooping: Ability to bend, stoop, and crouch as needed to perform job tasks.
- Driving: Valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and the ability to operate a vehicle safely.
