Summary:

Real Salt Lake is seeking a skilled and professional Massage Therapist to provide massage therapy and soft tissue services to first team players and staff under the direction of the Head of Sports Medicine / Head Athletic Trainer. Working as an integrated member of the Health and Performance department, the Massage Therapist will deliver evidence-based manual therapy interventions — including sports massage, myofascial release, and soft tissue mobilization — to support player recovery, musculoskeletal health, injury prevention, and return-to-play readiness. The primary scope of this role is the RSL first team; there may be occasions where the Massage Therapist is requested to provide treatment to Real Monarchs or RSL Academy players on an as-needed basis. This is a full-time position based primarily at the RSL Training Center in Herriman, with attendance at home and away matches as required.

Responsibilities Include:

·        Provide advanced manual therapy services, including sports massage, myofascial release, and soft tissue mobilization, to support player recovery, injury prevention, and performance outcomes.

·        Deliver pre- and post-training/match treatment protocols aligned with player workload, match demands, and individualized performance plans.

·        Assess soft tissue condition and identify areas of concern, contributing insights that inform recovery strategies, training modifications, and return-to-play progression.

·        Collaborate with Sports Medicine and Performance staff to support rehabilitation programs and integrate manual therapy into comprehensive athlete care plans.

·        Communicate and document treatment observations, player status updates, and clinical insights within the club’s athlete management system.

·        Maintain treatment spaces, equipment, and hygiene standards in accordance with professional, medical, and club protocols.

·        Travel with the team and deliver consistent care across training, match, and travel environments.

·        Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, case discussions, and continuing education to support a high-performance environment.

·        Support broader organizational needs, including occasional service to Monarchs and Academy players, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

·        Graduate of an accredited Massage Therapy program.

·        Minimum of 2 years of professional massage therapy experience.

·        Active Utah Massage Therapy License (or ability to obtain prior to start).

·        Current CPR/AED certification.

·        Ability to work irregular hours to accommodate the Team’s schedule.

·        SafeSport certification required (or ability to obtain prior to start date).

·        Must be able to pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

·        Experience working with professional, elite, or collegiate athletes.

·        Proficiency in sports massage, myofascial release, and soft tissue mobilization techniques.

·        Strong understanding of injury prevention and return-to-play environments.

·        Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

·        Spanish language proficiency is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 25 pounds and occasionally exerting greater force. The position involves extended periods of standing and physical exertion consistent with the delivery of massage therapy services. The role requires the physical capacity to perform all manual therapy duties without restriction across a full working day, including match days and travel.
