The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in supporting and maintaining world-class facilities across the Real Salt Lake organization. This is a full-time hourly position requiring prior experience in facility maintenance. Technicians are responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing all areas—public and private—across multiple Real Salt Lake properties, including America First Field in Sandy, the Zions Bank Training Center in Herriman, and Academy Housing. These facilities must be kept clean, safe, and fully functional to provide the highest quality environment for players, staff, tenants, and visitors

Applicants must be 18 years old or older. 

RESPONSIBLITIES INCLUDE:

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs across all Real Salt Lake facilities, including America First Field, the Zions Bank Training Center, Academy Housing, and associated outbuildings: Tasks include, but are not limited to:
    • Drywall repair and painting
    • Minor electrical and lighting work
    • General carpentry, plumbing, and building repair
    • Pool and hot tub maintenance and repair (where applicable).
  •  Conduct routine inspections to identify functional issues and proactively address maintenance needs.
  • Responsible for the regular and preventive maintenance of mechanical and building systems to extend the life of critical infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate logs of preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Support construction or renovation projects by interpreting instructions and spatial concepts, including plans.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and support on-site as needed.
  • Assist in obtaining bids and coordinating vendor services for major repairs.
  • Ensure completion of outsourced work to required standards.
  • Participate in the development and execution of short- and long-term facility goals and maintenance plans.
  • Uphold and promote all safety protocols to ensure a secure work environment for staff and guests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Two plus years of general construction and/or facilities maintenance experience.
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude, with the ability to safely and effectively use power tools and facility maintenance equipment.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve maintenance issues independently and accurately, with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated judgment, efficiency, and adaptability in organizing, scheduling, and prioritizing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new equipment and maintenance procedures; ability to assist with construction or equipment installations.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment, with initiative to proactively identify and resolve safety concerns.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions, including technical or building plans.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, reliability, patience, and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Effective team player who demonstrates sound judgment, integrity, discretion, and trustworthiness.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to learn facility work order and maintenance planning software.
  • Must be able to work weekends & evenings during games/events, throughout the year at both facilities.
  • Must be able to work in wet and cold conditions, heat, and various weather conditions. 
  • Must be able to work in conditions of extended period of standing, walking, bending reaching and balancing.
  • Ability to grasp/squeeze and operate tools.
  • Must be comfortable and able to work on ladders at heights of up to 25 feet and operate a 40’ scissor lift.
  • Ability to work with moderate noise level.
  • Ability to pass a background check and become SafeSport Certified.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Trade Certificates or relevant post-secondary degree or coursework preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of building systems, including generators, HVAC, plumbing, fire alarms, electrical systems, and elevators (preferred).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 30 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 60 pounds or exerting heavy force, in a wide disparity or environmental conditions. The job involves climbing stairs, kneeling, squatting, crawling, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, typing, etc.
