SUMMARY
The Facilities Maintenance Technician for Housing is essential in maintaining the Academy Housing facility for Real Salt Lake. This full-time, non-exempt position requires prior experience to ensure the facility is well-maintained and fully functional for all tenants. Responsibilities include general building maintenance, repairs, and servicing of all areas within the facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Perform general maintenance of the facility, including common areas, rooms, and apartments, focusing on:
    • Drywall and painting
    • Carpentry, plumbing, building repairs, and light electrical work
  • Maintain regular and preventive maintenance logs for Academy Housing equipment
  • Assist with vendor management, including sourcing bids and hiring outside contractors for major repairs
  • Participate in planning long-term and short-term objectives for the Housing facility
  • Conduct stadium repairs and preparations for events, including seating, restrooms, and water fountains
  • Adhere to and promote all safety protocols
  • Complete other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two or more years of general construction and/or facilities maintenance experience
  • Two or more years of apartment or property maintenance experience
  • Strong judgment and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work independently with high accuracy
  • Successful completion of a background check to work around minors
  • Proficient in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving maintenance issues
  • Comfortable using power tools
  • Mechanical aptitude for learning necessary skills and equipment maintenance
  • Awareness of safety standards and initiative to address unsafe conditions
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to handle difficult or stressful situations with common sense
  • Physical capability to perform essential job functions, including lifting up to 30 lbs. (60 lbs. with assistance)
  • High-energy work ethic, attention to detail, patience, and a positive attitude
  • Team player with good judgment, discretion, trustworthiness, and integrity
  • Basic computer skills (Word and Excel) and the ability to learn work management software
  • Understanding of construction project instructions and concepts
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Trade Certificates or a relevant post-secondary degree or coursework preferred
  • Some knowledge of generators, hvac, plumbing, fire alarm systems, and electrical systems is preferred 
SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS: 
  • Primarily Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
  • Occasional weekend & evening work is required during events throughout the year
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The role requires extended periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and balancing. The technician must be able to crawl, kneel, stoop, and squat, as well as climb stairs and work on ladders up to 25 ft. Operating a 40’ scissor lift is also necessary. The work environment may expose the technician to various weather conditions and moderate noise levels.
