SUMMARY

The Director of Marketing will play a pivotal role in shaping the brand, fan experience, and growth of the Utah Royals FC. This leader will be responsible for developing and executing bold, integrated marketing strategies that strengthen our connection with fans, cultivate loyalty programs, and elevate the club’s visibility locally and nationally. 

The Director will oversee creative and digital campaigns, partnership activations, fan engagement, and matchday marketing plans, ensuring every touchpoint contributes to fan growth and revenue goals. Working cross-functionally with ticketing, merchandise, partnerships, communications, content, and community teams, this role will champion the Royals’ mission and values while ensuring fans, partners, and community feel welcomed, valued, and heard.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record of executing digital-first, data-driven marketing strategies in sports, live entertainment, or consumer brands, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where creativity, collaboration, and innovation are essential. 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Develop and execute the Club’s long-term marketing plan, including game-by-game strategies, that deliver on brand growth, fan base expansion, and revenue goals across ticketing, merchandise, and sponsorship.
  • Lead multi-channel campaigns across digital, social, paid media, CRM, email, SMS, broadcast, print, and grassroots initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent brand messaging and storytelling across all touchpoints, highlighting players, fans, and the club’s community impact.
  • Stay ahead of industry and cultural trends to bring breakthrough marketing strategies to women’s sports.
  • Oversees marketing campaigns with an emphasis on driving direct response (ticketing, merchandise, and memberships).
  • Build and enhance the club’s owned digital platforms (website, app) to deepen fan engagement and revenue opportunities.
  • Collaborate with consumer insights to create dashboards and analyze KPIs, ensuring campaigns are data-driven and measurable.
  • In collaboration with ticketing and operations teams, plan and execute matchday marketing, including themes, promotions, giveaways, entertainment, and in-stadium activations.
  • Develop grassroots campaigns and community activations that bring the club closer to fans throughout Utah.
  • Create experiential opportunities that inspire fandom, strengthen community ties, and enhance the game-day experience.
  • Collaborate with sponsorship teams to design and execute creative activations that provide value to both fans and partners.
  • Collaborate with a team of marketing professionals (social media, digital, influencers, creative, photography and video)
  • Foster a collaborative culture across departments (ticketing, partnerships, community, content, merchandise, operations).
  • Manage agencies, budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships effectively.
  • Champion the club’s mission, values, and culture of inclusion and service.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field 
  • 6 or more years of progressive marketing experience, preferably in sports, entertainment, or consumer-facing industries.
  • Proven success in executing multi-channel campaigns, driving fan/customer growth, and activating partnerships.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate KPIs and insights into actionable marketing strategies.
  • Proficiency with CRM, digital ad platforms, analytics dashboards, and marketing software.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable managing budgets, agencies, and cross-functional projects.
  • A passion for women’s sports, community impact, and soccer culture.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends to support the team’s schedule. 
  • Ability to travel both locally and internationally. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in professional sports marketing.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere) a plus.
  • Established knowledge of sponsorship assets, sports partnerships, and fan engagement strategies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 20 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 30 pounds or exerting heavy force, in a wide disparity or environmental conditions. The job involves standing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, typing, etc.
