SUMMARY

This at-will full-time position is responsible for enhancing the image of the entire organization, ensuring that a “unified front” from all levels of the company is shared internally and viewed externally, to grow all revenue streams through emotional, logical, and strategic connection with our community. This position involves key components, including the establishment and maintenance of valuable and influential relationships on multiple levels: internally with players, coaches, executives, staff, and leadership; externally with media, broadcast, and business influencers at the local, national, and industry levels.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: 

  • Strategically plan editorial cycles throughout the season, offering access to players, coaches, executives, and ownership at appropriate times, educating and informing as to company initiatives. 
  • Proactively pitch external media opportunities to print, web, and electronic outlets. 
  • Capitalize upon relationships with players, coaches, and others to publicize RSL ethos.
  • Collaborate with all levels of the organization to raise the quality and quantity of awareness, education, and emotional connection with all Club-related events and properties. 
  • Coordinate media availability sessions, interviews, and press conferences, ensuring consistency in messaging.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for local, national, and international media representatives.
  • Hires and develops seasonal communications/PR interns. 
  • Oversees game day media operations, including credentialing, press box coordination, and post-match media access.
  • Other duties as assigned.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism/English. 
  • 4+ years of experience in sports PR. 
  • Spanish-language fluency in native cultural, written, and verbal capacities.
  • This role requires a high degree of schedule flexibility, including availability during evenings, weekends, holidays, and on short notice to meet the dynamic needs of the organization and media coverage.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally. 
  • Basic knowledge/understanding of the evolving media business and the sport of soccer. 
  • Must be reliable and willingly possess excellent communication and organizational skills. 
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Suite with light use of Adobe Creative Suite tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 25 pounds or exerting heavy force, in a wide disparity or environmental conditions.  Must be able to work in outdoor environments in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain) during practices, games, and events. Frequently moves about event venues, stadiums, and office spaces to coordinate media activities and access players, staff, and media personnel.
