SUMMARY: 
The Youth Soccer Camp Coach is responsible for creating a fun, safe, positive, and engaging soccer experience for children ages 5–14 participating in Real Salt Lake Youth Soccer Camps and community programs.

This role requires someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and has the patience, communication skills, energy, and adaptability needed to coach players of different ages, personalities, and skill levels. Coaches will learn and deliver the RSL Camps curriculum while creating an environment where every participant feels welcomed, encouraged, and excited about soccer.

This is a hands-on, primarily outdoor position that requires travel throughout the Wasatch Front and regular evening and weekend availability.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Deliver engaging, age-appropriate soccer training sessions using the RSL Camps curriculum.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and fun environment for children ages 5–14 with varying skill and experience levels.
  • Provide patient, clear instruction while adapting coaching techniques to meet the needs of individual participants.
  • Supervise participants and prioritize their safety and well-being throughout all camp activities.
  • Build positive relationships with participants, parents, volunteer coaches, and Club staff.
  • Set up, organize, and break down soccer equipment before and after sessions.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and arrive prepared and on time for assigned camps and community events.
  • Represent Real Salt Lake and Utah Soccer professionally and positively in the community.
  • Assist with additional camps, clinics, community events, and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and patiently with children ages 5–14, including children with different personalities, abilities, skill levels, and attention levels.
  • Ability to create a fun, positive, inclusive, and structured environment while maintaining appropriate boundaries and prioritizing participant safety.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and group-management skills, with the ability to provide clear, age-appropriate instruction and effectively communicate with children, parents, coaches, and Club staff.
  • Basic knowledge of soccer and a passion for teaching and growing the game at the grassroots level.
  • Positive, professional, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to handle challenging or unexpected situations appropriately.
  • Reliable and punctual, with the ability to consistently fulfill scheduled commitments.
  • Ability to regularly work evenings and weekends based on camp, clinic, and event schedules.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather and field conditions.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to camp and event locations throughout the Wasatch Front.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background screening and youth-safety requirements.
  • Commitment to modeling good sportsmanship and representing Real Salt Lake and Utah Soccer in a positive and professional manner.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience coaching, teaching, mentoring, supervising, or otherwise working with children.
  • Previous soccer playing or coaching experience.
  • U.S. Soccer coaching certification or equivalent.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Soccer referee experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 75 pounds or exerting heavy force, in a wide disparity or environmental conditions. The job involves standing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, etc.
