JOB TITLE: Director, 1st Team Operations   
DEPARTMENT: Sporting 
REPORTING TO: VP, Sporting Operations + Strategy 
DIRECT REPORTS: Team Administrator; Player Care Coordinator; Head of Equipment Operations
LOCATION: CFA New York (Orangeburg, NY)

POSITION OVERVIEW: 
The Director of First Team Operations will be a key member of our soccer operations department, responsible for managing various aspects of the team’s day-to-day operations This position will collaborate closely with the Vice President Sporting Operations and Strategy, Coaching Staff, Human Performance, and other departments on the sorting side, to ensure the efficient functioning of the team and contribute to our overall success. 
 
WHAT YOU’LL DO: 
Provide effective supervision and leadership to the team operations staff, player care, and equipment departments.
 
Player Logistics and Travel Management
  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of 1st team travel, including flights, accommodations, ground transportation and meals. Including all pre-season, in-season and post-season travel.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for players and soccer operations staff, ensuring clear, concise, and timely communication on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensure all stakeholders are proactively communicated regarding all team planning and travel. Including travel documents and itineraries. 
  • Communicate and enforce the guidelines outlined in the MLS Operations & Competition Manuals and all subsidiary competitions, to ensure adherence by all relevant internal stakeholders.
Player Welfare and Support
  • Oversee player and staff welfare programs, including:
    • Efficient processes for player relocation, both incoming and outgoing
    • Player immigration needs and facilitate smooth onboarding procedures in collaboration with MLS
  • Act as a liaison between players, coaching staff and medical personnel
  • Address player needs and concerns in a timely and confidential manner. 
Team Facilities 
  • Manage day-to-day relationship with the training facilities team with what team schedules and needs are. Ensuring timely and efficient communication around teams needs. 
League Relations
  • Act as day-to-day contact with appropriate MLS league staff members and officials regarding various pertaining to 1st team players; including.
    • Travel Rules and Regulations
    • Player financial reporting 
    • Travel Logistics
  • Stay informed about League Rules, Regulations, and updates.
Game Day Operations
  • Lead all soccer operations during home games, including understanding stadium protocols, efficient credential management, and overseeing team/player/coach needs. 
 
WHAT YOU’LL BRING: 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding multitasking abilities and the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently while maintaining a keen attention to detail.
  • A proven ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment and build strong working relationships.
  • A requirement to travel, work on weekends, and accommodate extended hours as necessary to support team operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey messages to colleagues, coaches, players, and parents. 
  • An independent, enthusiastic approach and proactive attitude. 
  • 8+ years' experience in a high-performance, elite soccer environment
  • Managerial experience

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Applicant must be able to comply with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary

COMPENSATION:
This exempt position has an estimated annual base salary range of $90,000 to $110,000. Final compensation offer amounts are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors such as certifications and software expertise.
