JOB TITLE: Communications Associate
REPORTING TO: Director, Media Relations
DEPARTMENT: Communications
LOCATION: Must be able to commute between Orangeburg, NY, New York, NY, and New York City FC and New York City FC II home games.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Communications Associate is responsible for providing administrative and overall support to the Communications Department. The Communications Associate will assist with department projects and daily activities. The areas of concentration include but are not limited to: Media roundups, preparation of media assets for all games, organizing and maintaining media distribution lists, creation and upkeep of statistical databases, and assisting in the day-to-day media operations for both the First Team and MLS NEXT Pro affiliate New York City FC II.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Provide support to the Media Relations team at City Football Academy (CFA) New York
- Updating Club media resources and materials
- Create and maintain the statistical database for New York City FC & New York City FC II
- Assist in the day-to-day media operations required for New York City FC & New York City FC II home games
- Create coverage reports and assist with large Club announcements pertaining to partnership launches, community initiatives, player signings, amongst others
- Help with the logistics of media days and weekly press conferences
- Assist Director & Manager with research and storyline planning and brainstorming for pitching sporting/lifestyle/feature ideas
- Other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- Must be able to commute between Orangeburg, NY training facility, New York City FC home venues, and Manhattan Front Office
- Flexible with working hours with the ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Excellent knowledge of MLS, New York City FC and soccer in general
- Fluent in Spanish or a secondary language
- Strong communications, analytical and stats skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced media environment and make quick decisions using sound judgement
- Self-starter, team-orientated, and organized
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Canva and AI Tools
- You must be working towards or holds a degree in Communications, Sports Management, Sports Information or a related field
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicant must be able to comply with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary
COMPENSATION:
This role is a part-time non-exempt position that has an hourly rate of $20 and is eligible for overtime. Final compensation offer amounts are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors such as certifications and software expertise. We welcome direct conversations with each candidate about compensation in all of our initial calls.
