Job Title: Boys Select Team Coach

POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking experienced, high-performing Boys Select Team Coaches to join our youth programs staff. Coaches will plan and deliver age-appropriate training, competitive preparation, and tactical instruction aligned with our club’s playing philosophy. This role emphasizes the development of elite youth players in the Boys pathways.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Technical & Tactical Leadership
- Deliver structured training sessions that advance technical skills, tactical understanding, and soccer intelligence.
- Apply age-specific curriculum and developmental frameworks consistent with our club’s methodology.
- Analyze match play and training activities to adjust coaching objectives and methodologies.
Team & Player Development
- Lead team training and match day coaching for Boys Select teams.
- Create individualized development plans (IDPs) for players, tracking progression and areas for growth.
- Provide constructive feedback to players, parents, and support staff.
Administrative & Compliance Duties
- Maintain accurate attendance, performance evaluations, and training plans.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, league rules, and safety practices.
- Participate in coach meetings, program planning sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Culture & Communication
- Communicate clearly with players, families, and club stakeholders regarding expectations, schedules, and progress.
- Promote a positive, inclusive environment that supports player wellbeing and a growth mindset.
WHO YOU ARE:
Required
- Minimum 3 years of coaching experience at competitive youth levels (academy/select).
- USSF C License or equivalent.
- Proven track record of coaching development-focused teams and improving individual players.
Preferred
- USSF B License or higher
- Experience within competitive programs or environments.
- Strong knowledge of modern training periodization, performance analysis tools, and coaching technologies.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- Deep understanding of technical, tactical, physical, and psychological development principles.
- Excellent communication skills with diverse groups (players, parents, staff).
- Strong organizational skills; ability to prepare session plans, training objectives, and critiques.
- Leadership presence; ability to inspire trust, motivate athletes, and uphold a professional environment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicant must be able to comply with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during competitive seasons.
- Regular travel to training sites, matches, and events as required.
- Commitment to program consistency, punctuality, and professional standards.

COMPENSATION:
This role is a part-time non-exempt position that has an hourly rate of $45-65 and is eligible for overtime. Final compensation offer amounts are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors such as certifications and software expertise.
