JOB TITLE: Academy Scout Intern
DEPARTMENT: Sporting
REPORTING TO: Head of Scouting and Recruitment
LOCATION: CFA New York (Orangeburg, NY) and St. John’s University (Queens, NY)
COMPENSATION: $16/ hour, 30 hours per week
This internship runs the span of the Academy season and is expected to start as soon as possible and conclude last week of June 2026.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
New York City FC is seeking a dedicated Scout Intern to join our Academy staff. The purpose of this role is to assist in the identification, assessment, and recruitment of potential NYCFC academy players in the greater Tri-State area. The Academy Scout Intern will primarily be tasked with assisting with the management of scouting information – schedules, reports, depth charts, trials, and other duties as assigned by the Head of Scouting and Recruitment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Participation in weekly scouting and recruitment meetings
- On-field support with Talent ID programming including City Select
- Potential coverage of grassroots events and youth tournaments
- Match and player reporting
- Monthly submission of hours worked
- Compliance with Club policies
- Compliance with the Club’s health and safety procedures
- To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably expected
- To maintain professional conduct at all times
- Work closely with the Academy Leaders and Coaches
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicant must be able to comply with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary
WHO YOU ARE:
- Professional or amateur playing experience
- Youth club scouting experience
- Strong experience in Data management and administration
- Strong work ethic
- A motivated growth mindset and life-long learner
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Knowledge and know-how of Microsoft office
- Driver’s license
