We’re hiring a Gameday Communications Assistant. You’ll report directly to the Communications Specialist and manage an assortment of communications-specific tasks throughout Spirit home games.
The role is an integral part of the Communications staff to ensure valued media partners are welcomed with tremendous hospitality and equipped with proper resources. Working directly with the communications staff, this role will be called to assist in carrying out responsibilities necessary in making a flawless gameday experience, getting a 360-degree view of what goes into executing a sporting event from a public relations standpoint.
The Gameday Communications Assistant will:
- Manage media check-in table and the distribution of credentials
- Escort media to postgame press conference/mixed zone spaces
- Write postgame recaps
- Prep media press box
- Assist in the management of postgame mixed zone and other interview spaces
- Distribute postgame statistics to media and staff
- Transcribe postgame press conferences
- Help set up and take down communications spaces and resources throughout the stadium
- Other duties as assigned
This position is seasonal and part-time for the 2025 club match schedule. The work schedule is set on an as-needed event/match basis. There are no guaranteed number of hours per week.
Requirements:
- Ideal candidates should reside in the DMV area.
- Flexibility in scheduling, with no guaranteed number of hours per week; based on as-needed event/match requirements.
- Minimum age requirement of 18 years and a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Frequent travel within the DMV area using your own vehicle is mandatory.
- Prior experience in operations, marketing, promotions, or events is preferred.
- Availability for 80% of Washington Spirit home matches at Audi Field during the season, which runs from March 2025 to November 2025.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors, with some exposure to adverse conditions.
- Capability to move and/or lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Flexibility in work hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support matches and events.
- Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination is required prior to employment start date.
- Experience with operating cargo vans and storage trucks is a valuable asset.
