San Diego Wave FC is seeking a dedicated Team Chaplain to provide non-denominational spiritual care and support to players prior to home matches. This is a volunteer position designed to foster holistic wellbeing and uphold the Club’s values of inclusivity, connection, and integrity.
Position Details
· Location: Snapdragon Stadium, San Diego, CA
· Commitment: All 15 home matches (seasonal)
· Compensation: Volunteer (unpaid)
· Benefits: Two complimentary game tickets and parking per home match
Key Responsibilities
· Offer 5–10 minute group gatherings approximately 80 minutes prior to kickoff in designated stadium space.
· Provide spiritual care upon player request, respecting all faith traditions and cultural diversity.
· Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times.
· Collaborate with Club care team while adhering to NWSL and Club policies.
· Attend all 15 home matches and follow matchday protocols.
Required Qualifications
· Counseling-related certification or degree or in progress (e.g., M.Div., MA/MS in Counseling, CPE units, BCC, LMFT/LPC/LPCC eligible or licensed).
· Active affiliation with a recognized professional chaplaincy organization.
· Completion of background check, SafeSport, Harassment Prevention, and CANRA training.
· Ability to serve a multi-faith, inclusive environment with respect and humility.
· Availability for all 15 home matches.
Preferred Qualifications
· Licensed Pastoral Counselor
· Experience providing chaplaincy/spiritual care in athletics or healthcare settings.
· Familiarity with professional sports environments and athlete wellbeing.
· Familiar with HIPAA regulations
