San Diego Wave Fútbol Club is on a mission to build a world class home for players and fans. We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking Assistant Coach to join our mission to share our story, win championships, increase, and delight our fans. Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Coach in the design, delivery, and refinement of high-quality training sessions aligned with the club’s game model and performance objectives.
- Coach on the pitch with clarity, precision, and strong session management to advance both individual and collective development.
- Take responsibility for specific phases or moments of the game and elevate them to new performance levels within the framework of the team’s game model.
- Collaborate effectively across the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure integrated, athlete-centered planning across technical, tactical, physical, and medical domains.
- Assist with opponent analysis, match preparation, in-game support, and post-match review.
- Provide individualized feedback, performance insights, and clear development plans for players.
- Demonstrate strong judgement and make effective decisions under pressure.
- Contribute to talent identification and recruitment processes as required.
Required Education
- Advanced Level Coaching License (or equivalent)
Desired Education
- Pro-Level License (UEFA Pro, USSF Pro, or equivalent)
Required Experience
- Coaching experience at the highest competitive level of the women’s game.
Desired Experience
- Prior coaching experience within the NWSL.
Required Skills & Attributes
- Excellent collaborator with proven experience working within a high-performance MDT environment.
- Outstanding communication skills and full professional proficiency in English.
- Strong on-pitch coaching ability with demonstrated success in elite settings.
- Strong leadership grounded in relationship-building, enabling individuals and groups to reach their full potential.
- Ability to take ownership of specific game components and advance them within the overarching game model.
- High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and focus on actions with the highest performance impact.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to continuous professional improvement.
- Ability to make informed, high-quality decisions in high-pressure moments.
Desired Skills
- Proficiency in Portuguese and/or Spanish.
- Ability to design, deliver, and enhance a world-class set-piece program.
