About the Courage Formation Program
The Courage Formation Program is the North Carolina Courage’s internship program designed for late-stage undergraduate and graduate students who are intentional about their career path and eager to contribute meaningfully to a high-performing professional sports organization.
This program is built for interns who want more than exposure - it’s for those who want responsibility, real experience, and the opportunity to learn how a world-class women’s soccer club operates behind the scenes. Interns in the Courage Formation are treated as valued contributors, not extra hands.
About the Role
The Marketing Intern will support day-to-day operations and special projects within the Marketing Department, contributing directly to the success of the Club throughout the season. This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and best suited for someone who is curious, proactive, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
Interns are expected to bring a strong work ethic, a growth mindset, and a willingness to learn quickly while operating with professionalism and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Mobile App Support
- Assist with drafting and sending push notifications to engage fans and drive action
- Help maintain, update, and refresh app content to ensure accuracy, relevance, and consistency
- Support testing and quality checks for app content and messaging
Design & Creative Support
- Create and update simple graphics for digital channels, including social media, email, and in-app content
- Support brand consistency across all visual assets and marketing materials
- Collaborate with the marketing team on creative concepts and executions
Email Marketing
- Build, create, and send marketing emails to the NC Courage database (experience with Braze preferred)
- Develop fun, engaging email content to grow and retain subscribers
- Assist with basic performance tracking, reporting, and optimization insights
Website Support
- Update and design webpages as needed using Forge (or a similar CMS platform)
- Assist with content management, site updates, and general website maintenance
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of web content related to tickets, promotions, and events
Game Day & Event Support (as needed)
- Assist with sending timely game-day and marketing-related communications across digital channels
- Support in-stadium, game-day, and special event marketing initiatives
- Provide real-time support for marketing needs in a live sports environment
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed during matchdays
Additional Opportunities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on campaigns, promotions, and fan engagement initiatives
- Gain exposure to integrated marketing strategies across email, web, mobile app, and social
- Learn how real-time marketing operates within a professional sports organization
- Build a strong portfolio of live projects and digital marketing experience

Learning & Development
As part of the Courage Formation, interns will:
- Gain hands-on experience within a professional sports organization
- Develop practical skills relevant to their field of study
- Receive regular feedback and coaching from their manager
- Gain exposure to matchday operations, cross-functional teams, and Club leadership
- Build a strong foundation for a career in sports, business, or related fields
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for interns who:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Sports Management, or a related field
- College junior, senior, or recent graduate
- Strong desire to learn, grow, and gain hands-on marketing experience
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience (Not Required)
- Experience using Canva; familiarity with Adobe Photoshop is a plus
- Exposure to email marketing platforms or campaign execution
- Basic understanding of web or app design and content management systems
- Interest in sports, digital media, fan engagement, or live events
