Job Overview
The North Carolina Courage, a member of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), is seeking a Broadcast Engineering Specialist to join our team. We hire people who help us work smarter, sharper, and more Courageous and this position supports the operation, maintenance, and reliability of the Club’s in-stadium production systems. The position serves as the primary day-to-day technical steward of the stadium’s LED display systems while developing a broader understanding of broadcast engineering, video routing, control room infrastructure, replay, graphics, and audiovisual systems.
As a member of our Club, you will contribute to an environment grounded in our Operational Standards: Set the Standard. Own the Results. Lead the Club. We are looking for individuals who embody Integrity, Community, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence in everything they do and who are motivated to elevate the Courage through their work, attitude, and professionalism.
In this role, you will work alongside the Live Production team and facility operator to proactively maintain equipment, troubleshoot technical issues, perform preventative maintenance, and assist with engineering support for match days and special events. The ideal candidate is naturally curious, enjoys solving technical problems independently, and exhausts reasonable troubleshooting steps before escalation when necessary.
This role reports to the Senior Director of Game Production & IT in the Game Day Presentation & Production Department.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Serve as the primary technical resource for the stadium’s LED display systems and broadcast equipment.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance, inspections, testing, and repairs of all LED boards and associated hardware.
- Diagnose image quality, processing, cabling, power, and communication issues affecting LED systems.
- Prepare, test, and load LED content into the field display control system prior to matches, special events, and other stadium activations.
- Operate LED display systems during matches and special events as assigned, ensuring accurate and timely playback of all scheduled content.
- Maintain documentation of repairs, recurring issues, spare inventory, and preventative maintenance schedules of all NC Courage broadcast equipment.
- Assist in maintaining broadcast control room equipment including routing systems, switchers, replay servers, graphics systems, and audio systems.
- Assist operators and production staff in resolving technical issues during events.
- Support installation and commissioning of new broadcast technologies as the club expands.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills & Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Technology, Information Technology, Engineering, Media Production, or related field; or equivalent professional experience.
- 1-3 years of experience supporting audiovisual, broadcast, live event, or technology systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Basic understanding of video signal flow and broadcast system architecture.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals including IP address and device communication.
- Ability to work independently while recognizing when collaboration or escalation is appropriate.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience with Daktronics, NovaStar, or other large-format LED systems.
- Familiarity with Ross Video production equipment.
- Experience with replay systems, graphics systems, or production switchers.
- Understanding of SDI, NDI, fiber, and IP-based video transport.
- Experience reading wiring diagrams and signal flow documentation.
- CTS, Dante, or similar technical certifications are a plus.
