Who are we hiring?
The HR is team is seeking an experienced HR professional with enthusiasm and creativity. Reporting to General Counsel, the Manager, Human Resources will play a key role in talent acquisition, supporting employees and business functions. We are looking for a proactive individual, who thrives in a dynamic environment and has a strong foundation of HR best practices and recruiting.
The Manager, Human Resources will be an integral piece of the Kansas City Current team by supporting over 100 full-time staff members and 500 event day team members. The Manager, HR will ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines across all departments while supporting stadium functions such as recruiting, new hire orientations, team member engagement, performance management and stadium culture building initiatives. What will you do?
- Serve as the immediate HR representative and contact for full-time and part-time KC Current team members.
- Address team member concerns in a professional, compassionate, and timely manner.
- Lead team member investigations as needed and maintain confidential team member records.
- Lead stadium recruitment for full-time positions and support the stadium-wide recruitment campaign for part-time team members.
- Find innovative ways to source top-performing candidates, including tapping into highly regarded service industries and creating and utilizing partnerships with local businesses, charities, company affiliates, etc.
- Assist with the execution of stadium hiring events.
- Assist with trainings including full-time and part-time new hire orientation.
- Recommend stadium safety, diversity, unconscious bias, and other training programs to ensure a safe and inclusive work environment.
- Evaluate and improve upon progressive discipline plan.
- Participate in team member counseling meetings when appropriate and assist department leaders with the development of performance improvement plans and the administration of disciplinary action, up to or including termination while maintaining the confidentiality of team member information.
- Attend major events to assist with team member concerns and injuries. Manage Worker's Comp claims.
- Conduct a yearly wage analysis and make recommendations for team member compensation changes.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations across all event day departments.
- Contribute to the development and execution of stadium culture building initiatives, including recognition and rewards.
What do you need to succeed?
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration or a related field (required)
- 5-7 years in Human Resources, 2 years with employee relations or compliance experience
- Strong working knowledge of Missouri and Kansas City employment laws and regulations
- HRIS and ATS experience (Paycor and TeamWorks Online is current systems of use) and comfortable with use of various systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High degree of accountability and independence in a dynamic environment
Preferred
- Experience in sports or entertainment related industry
- Human Resource Certifications (SHRM, HRCI, etc.)
Special requirements of the Job:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights (event evenings & overnight operation shifts) and holidays.
- Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time-sensitive matters with senior executives.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the venue for extended periods of time, often during events as needed.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed for event setup, equipment management, or assisting with operational needs.
