Who are we hiring?
The Equipment Intern, KC Current II, reporting to the Head of Equipment, plays a crucial role within the equipment management department at the Kansas City Current. This person is trusted to establish and maintain the highest standards of professionalism and efficiency in the day-to-day equipment operations of the Second Team. This role will directly oversee the Second Team and support the initiatives of the Teal Rising Alliance, and Academy. Furthermore, this position serves a fundamental role in maximizing the athletes’, coaches’, and technical staff’s ability to perform at the highest levels by preparing gear for training and matches, helping to ensure training exercises run smoothly on the pitch, and helping to manage team equipment transportation, among other duties.
What will you do?
- Maintain Equipment: Clean, sort, store, fix and retrieve training equipment for training sessions and games.
- Travel Logistics: Ensure the travel experience for players and staff runs efficiently by establishing a system for transporting team equipment for all offsite matches, camps, and training sessions. This includes proactively communicating travel logistics and effectively executing travel procedures.
- Travel Preparation: Prepare, organize, pack and transport all necessary team gear and equipment for offsite training sessions, camps, and games.
- Gear: Launder, sort, and distribute training and match gear for players and staff.
- Training Logistics: Ensure that training sessions run with maximum efficiency and coordination to accomplish the Head Coach’s goals for each session.
- Problem Solving: Anticipate needs and proactively solve problems.
- Equipment Room: Maintain the organization, cleanliness and operation of the equipment room.
- Match Day: Transport match day gear/ equipment from the training center to the stadium; set up locker room; efficiently execute and support warm-up; be attentive and responsive to player and coaching needs on the bench; breakdown/repack locker room and bench; and coordinate post-match training sessions.
- Teal Rising Alliance: Support Teal Rising Alliance initiatives including but not limited to training sessions, matches, tournaments and Talent ID.
- Academy: Support Kansas City Academy initiatives including but not limited to training sessions and matches.
- First Team: Support First Team initiatives when applicable.
- All other duties as assigned.
What do you need to succeed?
- Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Ability to think critically and solve problems in high pace and high stress environments.
- Communication: Must be able to articulate thoughts and ideas clearly and concisely in the appropriate manner.
- Work Hours: Willing and able to work outside of regular business hours and travel out of state/ country for consecutive days.
- Physical Requirements: Able to lift more than 50 pounds above your head and to run in short sprints and over distance in training.
- Time Management: Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines on fast paced timelines.
- Transportation: Driver’s License is required
Required
- Experience working in team sports environment.
- High School Diploma
- High interpersonal skills- ability to build rapport and work effectively with diverse personalities in high pressure situations.
- Familiarity with soccer.
Preferred
- Earned or currently working towards a degree in sports related field.
- Experience working in professional, second division, or high-level collegiate sports.
Special requirements of the Job.
- Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time-sensitive matters with senior executives.
- Must be capable of working in physically demanding environments, including navigating stairs, ramps, and elevated platforms during venue conversions.
- Ability to work outdoors continuously for extended periods of time in all weather conditions
