Who are we hiring?
The Coordinator, Community Relations will serve as a vital link between the Kansas City Current, the local community, nonprofit organizations and fans, fostering positive relationships and enhancing community engagement. This role focuses on coordinating department functions, in-game community activations, youth soccer outreach and development, and various community programs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about sports and community engagement. Our primary areas of focus are sport and wellness, education, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
What will you do?
- Assist in developing programs and building relationships with community partners and nonprofit organizations to strengthen the club’s community pillars and core values.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute in-game community activations that highlight nonprofit partners and special guests, ensuring a positive guest experience (e.g., Olivia Bloomfield Legacy Seat).
- Draft engaging written content to maintain communication and enhance relationships with key audiences and program participants.
- Collaborate with marketing, communications, and game-day operations teams to promote community initiatives.
- Track and manage the community tickets program by identifying organizations and ensuring strong utilization rates.
- Provide input for creating educational resources and activation plans tied to cultural celebrations and awareness months (e.g., Hispanic Heritage Month, Women’s History Month, Pride).
- Serve as the primary Community Relations representative for assigned corporate partners to develop impactful community activations.
- Manage donation program, including fulfillment and software management, preparing packages, responding to inquiries, and coordinating approvals with organizations.
- Develop and implement educational outreach programs focused on S.T.E.A.M., school visits, and youth engagement initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with local nonprofits, schools, and community organizations to encourage participation in club programs.
- Support fundraising and special events such as the 50/50 Raffle, River Run, auctions, and other community-driven campaigns.
- Organize and oversee community events at the stadium, training facility, and local venues, including pregame activities and fan engagement opportunities.
- Coordinate player appearances and other special community events and activities.
- Maintain an organized inventory of team memorabilia for use in community events and promotional initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze KC Current impact metrics to maintain accurate internal records.

What do you need to succeed?
Required
- Passion for women's sports and specifically, women's soccer.
- The ability to professionally represent the KC Current’s interests to community and fan base.
- An understanding of the Kansas City community, surrounding cities, neighborhoods, and the relationship between club and local citizens.
- Effective communication skills including the ability to lead discussions and meetings.
- Empathetic and patient listener, with a genuine interest in supporting people of all ages and demographics.
- Collaborative team player, able to work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactive problem solver who can adapt to changing situations and find creative solutions.
- Creative mindset for generating innovative content and community involvement ideas.
- Highly organized, resourceful, quick learner, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrates optimism and a positive, can-do attitude when engaging with colleagues and the community.
Preferred
- Bachelors degree is preferred; relevant experience considered
- 1+ in community relations, nonprofit programing, or sports-related fields
- Experience in sport industry
- Bilingual speaker
Special requirements of the Job:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights (event evenings & overnight operation shifts) and holidays.
- Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time-sensitive matters with senior executives.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the venue for extended periods of time, often during events or facility setup and breakdown.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed for event setup, equipment management, or assisting with operational needs.
- Requires occasional bending, squatting, and reaching overhead to handle various tasks related to facility management, equipment, and event preparation.
- Must be capable of working in physically demanding environments, including navigating stairs, ramps, and elevated platforms during venue conversions.
- Ability to work outdoors continuously for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
