Who are we hiring?
The internship exists through the Kansas City Current Medical Department, will serve as a unique opportunity for the growth of a student. The intern will work alongside the entire medical staff consisting of Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists, Chiropractors, Internal Medicine Doctors, Orthopedic Surgeons, as well as the actively engaging staff of the Performance department. The intern must currently be a student in an accredited MSAT of athletic training program.
What will you do?
Working under the direction and supervision of the KC Current medical staff. The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the clinical experience.
Perform as a student athletic trainer in assisting in the management of the health care of the KC Current athletes.
- Healthcare includes but is not limited to first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, assisting in rehabilitation and prevention programs, pre- and post-training treatments, taping athletes, hydration setup, and serving as a member of stretcher crew on home game days.
- Help maintain a complete up to date roster of player health and participation records. assist in the documentation and filing of medical information.
- Maintain medical supplies inventory, assist in packing medical bags for away trips, keeping the athletic training room clean, organized, and safe.
- Compliance with all KC Current, TUKHS, NWSL Soccer medical policies and protocols, and OSHA standards with regards to blood borne pathogens.
Regular attendance and hours in conformance with the standards which may be established by KC Current from time to time are essential to the successful performance of this position. Due to the cyclical nature of the entertainment industry, the student may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the team needs including working game nights.

- Requires weekend and holiday work, 40+ hours/week, and exposure to various weather elements.
Additional Job Requirements:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights (event evenings & overnight operation shifts) and holidays.
- Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time-sensitive matters with senior executives.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the venue for extended periods of time, often during events or facility setup and breakdown.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed for event setup, equipment management, or assisting with operational needs.
- Requires occasional bending, squatting, and reaching overhead to handle various tasks related to facility management, equipment, and event preparation.
- Must be capable of working in physically demanding environments, including navigating stairs, ramps, and elevated platforms during venue conversions.
- Ability to work outdoors continuously for extended periods of time in all weather conditions
