NJ/NY Gotham FC (“Gotham FC” or “the Club”) is a National Women’s Soccer League (“NWSL”) team representing New Jersey and New York. The team plays at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, NJ. The Role:
Gotham FC is seeking a Physical Therapist (Temporary) who will report to the General Manager. The successful candidate will provide exceptional player evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation, as well as injury-risk mitigation and performance-improvement strategies. This role also has administrative responsibilities, including liaising with Gotham FC’s medical partner and team physicians, and the ongoing development of department policy and procedures to help make the club a true leader in medical and performance support in elite women’s sport.
Gotham FC is seeking a Physical Therapist (Temporary) who will report to the General Manager. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing the healthcare of players, including, but not limited to: clinical evaluation of acute and chronic injuries and formulation of provisional and differential diagnoses.
- Liaise with team physicians on treatment plans, provide regular progress updates, and coordinate return-to-play re-evaluations where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with the Performance Therapist and Strength & Conditioning Coach in the development of individualized injury risk mitigation and performance improvement strategies.
- Provide hands-on treatment, including maintenance, short-term, and long-term rehabilitation.
- Apply all treatment modalities in a safe and evidence-informed manner.
- Collaborate with all members of the multidisciplinary team in the development and implementation of written return to play programs, and contribute to regular rehabilitation updates in high-performance department meetings.
- Ensure compliance with all local and national government healthcare policies, including standards related to bloodborne pathogens.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of player health information, injury occurrence, physician evaluation, diagnosis, and intervention, player participation, and treatment and rehabilitation interventions, in the League-provided electronic medical record (EMR) system, Kitman Labs.
- Perform administrative tasks at the direction of the Player Health and Performance Team, including but not limited to the writing of policy and procedure documents such as return to play guidelines, accompanying players to medical appointments, compilation of League-required reports, and attendance at League-required meetings/activities/programs.
Qualifications:
- Post-graduate degree in Physical Therapy (Doctorate or Master's) or equivalent
- Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialist or Orthopedic Clinical Specialist
- At least five (5) years of experience as a Physical Therapist.
- At least three (3) years of experience caring for elite-level athletes (e.g., collegiate, professional, Olympic).
Requirements:
- Eligible to be licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state of New Jersey.
- Must hold a current CPR certification in Basic Life Support.
- Must maintain standard liability insurance.
- Must abide by all local, state, and federal laws and regulations specific to their profession, codes and standards of their governing bodies, and all applicable League Rules and Team policies (e.g., informed consent, medication management, etc.).
- Must be able to attend all away games.
Capability & Other Characteristics:
- Experience communicating and collaborating in a multidisciplinary high-performance team setting.
- Excellent self-directed work ethic and strong organizational skills.
- Able and willing to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Current valid driver’s license.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Location:
This position is fully in-person, based at Gotham FC’s soccer operations office and practice facility, currently located in Whippany, New Jersey. The person must be able and willing to attend all Gotham FC home games, away games and other business-related travel. Ability to work at the team’s business operations office in Jersey City, New Jersey, as needed. Gotham FC requires its associates to live in its market, that is, within reasonable commuting distance of Gotham FC’s offices, practice facility, and Sports Illustrated Arena.

Job type: Full-time position through August 31, 2026, with the opportunity to continue on a month-to-month basis thereafter based on business needs and mutual agreement.
Salary range: $100,000-$120,000 annually
