NJ/NY Gotham FC (“Gotham FC” or “the Club”) is a National Women’s Soccer League (“NWSL”) team representing New Jersey and New York. The team plays at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, NJ.
The Role:
Gotham FC is seeking an Equipment Coordinator and will report to the Director of Team Operations in assessing, managing and executing all tasks related to equipment needs. The successful candidate will have experience in equipment management, preferably with a women’s soccer team. They will have a passion for women’s sports and/or soccer, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, work ethic, and understand the flexibility required to work with a professional sports team.
Key Responsibilities:
Overall Equipment and Apparel Planning
- Assessing needs based on training and match day strategy, including evaluating weather patterns, training sessions from coaches, safety considerations, and other tactical needs. Ensure athletes are well-prepared to maximize productivity and safety by ensuring apparel and equipment is suitable for the circumstances.
- Research market availability and new products, analyze equipment needs and consider budget to propose enhancements to equipment and apparel. Use knowledge of both Gotham FC’s specific team needs and the existing and developing equipment industry to determine apparel type, vendor, quantity, and other parameters for equipment team.
Training Day Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day management and preparation of equipment needs for Gotham FC players and staff.
- Analyze coach-provided training plans and use nuanced knowledge of field availability to ensure that all requirements are met in an efficient and effective way, including taking into consideration weather patterns, field limitations, number of participants, and coaching needs.
- Organizes and prepare player and staff equipment prior to any club activity
- Set training field and any other areas which require setting up.
- Collect and launder all player and staff training kits.
- Responsible for organization and appearance of locker room, equipment room, and field equipment storage.
Match Day Responsibilities Responsible for ensuring players and staff follow league rules and protocols regarding equipment regulations. Receive any new league policies or adjustments and determine if Gotham FC is in compliance. If they judge the Club not to be in compliance, make recommendations to the staff for the most effective way to remain in compliance with minimal disruption to athletes and staff routine.
- Assists with the movement of Equipment to and from stadiums.
- Assists with the setup of the team and coaches dressing room prior to each match.
- Assist with accommodating visiting team equipment requests as the home team.
- Assists in preparation of all the field equipment prior to warm-up.
- Prepare the team locker room for the halftime meeting.
- Organizes and cleans up the team bench and locker room areas, towels, equipment, etc.
- Assists with the setup of the field prior to each match.
Apparel & Equipment Management
- Serve as an expert resource on apparel selection and customization, including but not limited to boot fittings. Make recommendations based on athlete position, size, foot shape, and personal preferences, both advising on specific brand and model of boot and enhancing and customizing stock boots for each individual players’ needs (i.e., customize stud patterns, sew laces in a specific way, stretching specific parts of boots).
- Help perform heat transfers on team apparel to be training, travel, and match ready.
- Assistance in transportation of team equipment in the Club van to and from the stadium and airports.
- Aid with packing for home games and away games.
- Travel with the team to away games and continue match day responsibilities for away matches.
- Seek out industry leading methods and products, proposing these to the Operations Department.
- Constantly seek to push the Equipment and Operations Department to be the league leader.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited university (preferred).
- 2-5 years’ experience in equipment management and/or sports administration with demonstrated success in managing competing priorities and complex issues.
- Knowledge and understanding of sports performance considerations, including optimizing performance and safety.
- Ability to plan and organize for short-term and long-term objectives.
- Ability to handle and lift average-weight objects up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for more than 4 hours per day.
- Ability to work long, irregular hours and weekends as dictated by event schedules and project timetables.
- Ability to work well in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to safely operate a non CDL vehicle including high roof cargo vans and/or small box trucks.

Location:
Based at Gotham FC’s soccer operations office and practice facility currently located in Whippany, New Jersey, on those days which Gotham FC is training or has a game, which will include weekends. Able to attend all Gotham FC home and away games, as necessary, as well as any other business-related trips, which may require travel. Additionally, the ability to work in the NJ/NY based business office in the greater New York City / New Jersey metropolitan area, as necessary.Gotham FC requires its associates to live in its market, that is, within reasonable commuting distance of Gotham FC’s offices, practice facility, and Sports Illustrated Stadium.
