NJ/NY Gotham FC (“Gotham FC” or “the Club”) is a National Women’s Soccer League (“NWSL”) team representing New Jersey and New York. The team plays at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, NJ. The Role:
The Pro Player Pathway Certified Athletic Trainer will be a full-time member of our multidisciplinary team (MDT) while also be connected and aligned with our 1st team High Performance staff. This position will be specifically responsible for providing exceptional acute pitch-side care, player evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for our Gotham FC’s 2nd team and Development Center (DC) players. Responsibilities will also include a close working relationship with our Performance Specialist to plan, deliver and monitor the return to play process as well as managing the day-to-day sports medicine operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Generic Duties
- Oversee sports medicine operations for Gotham FC 2nd team & Development Center (DC)
- Oversee player and staff medical care and needs
- Attend all scheduled training and games (home and away)
- Maintain and report on sports medicine budget
- Deliver educational content during the annual talent ID tournament
- Maintain good standing with NWSL, USSF, and other national team federations
- Assist with vision and planning of the program’s future growth
Specific Duties
Sports Medicine Operations
- Budget planning and upkeep
- Equipment management, travel planning/packing
- Supplies inventory and ordering
- Player medical appointment scheduling
- Athletic Training Room (ATR) organization and upkeep
- Contractor management and scheduling
Applied Sports Medicine
- Pitch-side care, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation
- Apply and maintain the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) for training and games
- Organization of the sports medicine daily workflow
- Manage treatments and rehabilitation timing
- Manage all pre- and post-training player medical needs
- Lead all rehabilitation programming
- Assist in injury prevention programming
- Assist with baseline assessments and post-injury re-assessment
- Communicate effectively on all player status updates and training limitations
- Establish and deliver a daily medical report system
Sports Medicine Administration
- Enter and maintain all medical records on the club’s athlete management system
- Maintain records for all ATR supply use and OTC medication log
- Player medical appointment scheduling and insurance management
- Lead medical review and look ahead in weekly all-staff meeting
Required Qualifications:
- Post-graduate degree in Athletic Training
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer
- NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer
- Eligible to be licensed as a Certified Athletic Trainer in the state of New Jersey
- Current CPR certification for Healthcare Providers

Location:
This position is fully in-person, based at Gotham FC’s soccer operations office and practice facility, currently located in Whippany, New Jersey. The person must be able and willing to attend all Gotham FC home games, away games and other business-related travel. Gotham FC requires its employees to live in its market, that is, within reasonable commuting distance of Gotham FC’s office, practice facility and Sports Illustrated Arena
