This is an opportunity for a Sports Science Internship integrated within the high-performance department at Angel City FC. The internship is designed to provide valuable hands-on experience for a person pursuing sports science opportunities in an elite or professional sporting environment. 

This position is based in Thousand Oaks, California, at the first team training ground. 

This is a paid internship. Roughly 30-40 hours per week. 

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in collecting and analyzing performance data during team training sessions, individual sessions, return to play (RTP), and matches.
  • Work closely with the performance department to interpret data related to player workload, individual performance plans, and recovery.
  • Assist in daily, weekly, and prescribed monitoring of player progress and health and determine any relevant adaptations to training programs.
  • Collaborate with our medical staff to implement individualized injury mitigation strategies.
  • Observe RTP sessions and contribute to player recovery plans.
  • Aid in the development and delivery of specific protocols related to testing, workload management, and progressive longitudinal tracking.
  • Contribute to ongoing projects that aim at player profiling and contributing to the team training methodology, & periodization.
  • Share new sports science literature and contribute to ongoing research projects.
  • Deliver two in-service presentations on relevant female performance topics
  • Contribute innovative ideas for improving player performance.
Desired Skills & Requirements:
  • Relevant degree or educational background in sports science, kinesiology, or strength & conditioning
  • Experience working in Power BI, Google Sheets, Excel, etc.
  • Previous experience working with sports science technologies such as GPS, Forceplates, Isometric testing, etc.
  • Previous experience within a team environment with a strong interest in soccer and athlete development
  • Excellent communication and team-oriented skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment
  • Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative
