The Senior Performance Therapist will be primarily responsible for the delivery of therapy services for musculoskeletal injuries and conditions of the Players. The Therapist will report directly to the Head of Medical and communicate daily with the High-Performance staff. Under the guidance of the Team Chief Medical Officer/Team Physician(s), the Therapist will coordinate evaluations, rehabilitation, plan of care, progress notes, and discharge notes on all Players as indicated. These notes must be kept on file in the NWSL Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Responsibilities
Work in collaboration with the Team Medical Staff and under the direction and supervision of the Team CMO/Team Physician(s):
- Perform elite therapy services for the Players in collaboration with the Medical staff as indicated.
- Monitor any changes in mental, psychological, and physical health of the Players through daily interactions and discuss with/refer to appropriate Team Staff as indicated.
- Comply with OSHA standards regarding blood-borne pathogens.
- Provide up-to-date evaluation, plan of care, progress notes, and discharge notes maintained in the League’s EMR system.
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills required to work effectively with other Team Medical Staff members, Players, Coaches, other Team personnel and League staff.
- Research Coordinator – Manage all health-related studies Angel City is currently engaged in, actively look for other opportunities with current partners and deliver/educate/share quality research into the medical staff to inform and enhance current processes. At least once per month of high-quality literature shared.
- Women's Health Liaison - helping to develop the protocol/triage system based on completing a gap analysis. Coordinate current research programming, embed new processes in current programming and deliver relevant follow up.
- RTP Monitoring – Supporting team testing, managing the cadence of testing for RTP specifically post injury follow up monitoring - including setting cadence based on injury and execution of the tests' i.e. HHD. Maintaining up to date records and delivering, using contemporary technologies, high quality testing as needed.
- Coordinating the External Contractors scheduling (including but not limited to Chiropractor and Massage Therapists at training ground and away as necessary)
- Development of corrective triage process and programming pertaining to screening findings.
- Role requires extensive travel with the team.
- Maintain professional liability insurance.
- Compile reports as required by the League.
- Comply with all League medical policies and protocols.
- Abide by all local, state, and federal laws and regulations specific to their profession, codes and standards of their governing bodies, and all applicable League Rules and Team policies
- (e.g., informed consent, medication management, etc.).
- Attend all activities/meetings/programs as required by the League.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required by the League.
Educational Experience
- Minimum four (4) year college/university bachelor’s degree
- Master’s degree in Athletic Training or Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (DPT)
Licenses or Certifications
- BOC Certified Athletic Trainer or Sport Physical Therapist
- State license in California or ability to be licensed in state prior to start of role.
- In good standing with the state licensure board.
- CPR certification in Basic Life Support
- Boarded certified as a Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS) if applicable
- Additional recommended certifications: Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Corrective Exercise Specialization (NASM-CES) and/or Performance Enhancement Specialization (NASM-PES)
Professional Requirements
- Minimum four (4) years’ experience since receiving licensure.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a sports environment caring for elite-level athletes (i.e., collegiate, professional, Olympic)
- Soccer experience preferred.

Compensation
In addition to the benefits mentioned above, this role offers a pay range of $110,000 to $120,000 annually.
