Position Summary
The Director of Youth will lead Bay FC’s youth strategy, integrating the technical, operational, and cultural elements of the club’s development system. This leader oversees the full youth pathway — from grassroots through pre-professional — ensuring a world-class, collaborative, and player-centered environment for players, coaches, and families.
 
This position focuses on long-term program strategy, ecosystem building, partnerships, and operational leadership. The Director will drive the structure, standards, and sustainability of Bay FC’s youth programming while ensuring alignment with the club’s playing philosophy and long-term vision of developing players and people who embody “The Bay Way.”

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES 
Program Leadership & Strategy 
  • Define and own Bay FC's youth development strategy, aligning all programs with the club’s technical philosophy and long-term vision. 
  • Build a sustainable, clearly defined youth pathway that satisfies all NWSL PDR eligibility requirements, enabling Bay FC to consistently develop players who are fully prepared and eligible for first-team integration. 
  • Collaborate across departments (first team, community, marketing, partnerships) to embed youth development into the broader club ecosystem. 
  • Ensure diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility are embedded in all youth development programs. 
 
Partnerships & Affiliates 
  • Create, manage and strengthen relationships with affiliates, academies, and community partners to strengthen youth engagement and expand Bay FC’s ecosystem. 
  • Align affiliate and grassroots programming with Bay FC’s technical, cultural and developmental philosophy. 
  • Support Bay FC-hosted tournaments, showcases, and community engagement events as key platforms for visibility. 
  • Ensure partner organizations reflect Bay FC’s values, development standards, and long-term strategic goals. 
  • Serve as the senior point of contact for all youth partnership relationships. 
     
Player Development 
  • Oversee the identification, recruitment, and holistic development of emerging regional talent, ensuring alignment with succession plans toward the first team roster 
  • Provide strategic oversight of training standards and IDP implementation with multidisciplinary input and a female-health lens. 
  • Monitor player progression using evaluation tools, performance feedback, and consistent plan–do–review cycles. 
  • Strengthen relationships with US Soccer youth national teams' staff by exchanging regular reports on player status and progress to maximize individual development, and talent ID. 
 
Coach Development 
  • Partner with the Head of Youth to support and education of youth staff, ensuring alignment with Bay FC’s methodology and values. 
  • Lead comprehensive coaching education initiatives and provide ongoing professional development aligned with modern trends in talent development. 
  • Serve as a technical leader and role model across all youth and affiliate programs. 
 
Talent Identification & Recruitment 
  • Provide strategic direction for Bay FC’s youth scouting model, ensuring alignment with the club’s recruitment philosophy and Bay Collective standards. 
  • Collaborate with the Head of Youth to ensure the scouting strategy is effectively implemented across all age groups. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local clubs, schools, academies, and community organizations to broaden the talent pipeline. 
  • Oversee high-level succession planning by integrating scouting insights into long-term pathway and roster planning. 
 
Operations & Administration 
  • Oversee all day-to-day operations of Bay FC’s youth programs, including affiliates, camps, clinics and community initiatives. 
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, resource allocation, and program scaling. 
  • Oversee scheduling, facilities, travel, equipment, and logistics for training, matches, and events. 
  • Implement systems and processes to ensure efficiency, consistency, and professional standards. 
  • Ensure compliance with NWSL, U.S. Soccer, and local league regulations, as well as safeguarding and player eligibility standards. 
  • Execute player registration, documentation, and adherence to all regulations and risk management policies. 
 
Player & Family Experience  
  • Ensure that players and families have clear, accessible communication channels with the club regarding program operations and logistics. 
  • Ensure that Bay FC’s youth development philosophy is consistently understood and applied by coaches, staff, players, and parents to create aligned expectations and a unified developmental culture. 
  • Ensure holistic player care by embedding academic monitoring, wellbeing support, and a “person-first” approach throughout the youth pathway.

Requirements 
  • 7+ years of experience in youth development or academy management. 
  • Proven leadership experience in a professional, collegiate, or academy soccer environment. 
  • U.S. Soccer “A” License or equivalent international coaching qualification preferred. 
  • Strong operational management skills, including budgeting, logistics, and compliance. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and build collaborative, inclusive environments. 
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills. 
  • Passion for player development and advancing opportunities for female athletes. 
  • Familiarity with NWSL, U.S. Soccer, and international player development standards. 

Compensation:
The anticipated salary range for this role starts at $170,000 plus bonus. Starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.

Bay FC is the first NWSL team in the Bay Area. Co-founded by four U.S. Women’s National Team legends—Brandi Chastain, Aly Wagner, Danielle Slaton, and Leslie Osborne—in partnership with global investment firm Sixth Street, Bay FC is changing the face of women’s soccer as we know it. Beginning play in the 2024 season, we are building a squad that will play the beautiful game with power, passion, energy, and creativity.
