POSITION OVERVIEW
The Performance Coach will be responsible for supporting and assisting the club in the physical development and maintenance of players for Huntsville City FC, the MLS Next Pro team affiliated with Nashville Soccer Club. This person will work closely with the organization’s Director of High Performance and Medical as well as the HCFC medical and coaching staff to create team and player-specific programs and administer those programs on the field and in the gym. The person in this role should have prior playing and/or coaching experience and be expected to comfortably facilitate soccer-centric programs.  In addition, they should also have a formal educational background in exercise science or a related area.  This role will report directly to the Director of High Performance and Medical and Huntsville City General Manager and will work closely with the Head Coach and Athletic Trainer for Huntsville City FC, as well as various other key front office staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • This position will assist in the following areas:
  • Managing and directing on-field warm up and cool down sessions, as well as individual sessions for targeted or rehabilitating players
  • Evaluating and implementing physical conditioning sessions/protocols for players throughout the pre-season, in-season, and off-season phases (i.e. energy system development, speed and agility, etc.)
  • Distribution of player devices and processing data into club systems on a daily basis
  • Utilizing various monitoring software, tools and technologies to report on player performance and injury prevention
  • Designing and implementing strength training and preventative strategies within the gym environment
  • Contributing to individual return to play programs with medical staff and presenting to coaching staff and key stakeholders
  • Facilitating player body fat testing and implement programs based on results.
  • Developing strong interpersonal relationships with players and staff to effectively administer programs
  • Producing educational materials for players to guide towards best practices in the optimization of sport performance
  • Organizing nutritional supplements and snacks for players on training and game days, and contributing to general meal preparation strategies
  • Attending daily meetings with coaching and medical staffs
  • Organizing and maintaining field and gym equipment, including matchday setups at home and away facilities
  • Traveling with team as necessary
 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 
  • Undergraduate (Bachelor’s) Degree from a 4-year accredited University in related field of study such as Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sport Science, Biomechanics, Strength & Conditioning, and/or similar
  • NSCA-CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist)
  • Experience with Live GPS monitoring and interacting with Coaching Staff
  • CPR Certification
 PREFERRED 
  • Graduate (Master’s) Degree from an accredited University in related field of study
  • 2-3 years experience in collegiate or professional soccer within the United States
  • CPSS Certification
  • Functional Movement Screening (FMS) – Certified Level 1 - 2
  • Strongfirst Strength Certifications
  • Mental Health First Aid and/or Be there Certification
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
