Position Summary
The Human Performance (HP) Department is seeking a First-Team Strength and Conditioning Coach to help the department accomplish their mission of creating a collaborative, data-informed staff committed to excellence by delivering holistic, player-centric health and performance.

The First Team Strength and Conditioning Coach will be responsible for creating “great movers”. The role will place a strong emphasis on movement-based strength, power, speed, and multidirectional development, with integrated on-field and off-field programming tailored to the specific performance demands and developmental needs of each player.

They will be tasked with creating a movement based athletic development pathway for each player based on the creation of detailed player athletic profiles and subsequent performance programming. The role will oversee the consistent delivery of integrated pre- and post-training performance sessions, driven by close collaboration across the entire HP department.

Essential Functions
• Blend the arts and sciences of movement analysis, movement correction, sport-specific training, understanding how to safely integrate athletic development programs into the team’s overall tactical periodization.
• Understand the physical demands of soccer and how they are translated by the language of GPS and other systems. Use data outputs from tracking systems to further enhance player profiling and training programs.
• Contribute to a multi-disciplinary approach to creating an athletic profile for each first team player addressing movement proficiency and position specific speed, strength, power, and deceleration mechanics.
• Lead movement correction programming collaboratively with the HP department.
• Create individualized athletic development programming to address athletic needs
• Lead the implementation of pre-and post-training athletic development sessions, in the gym and on field for all first team players, in collaboration with the HP department and technical coaching departments.
• Provide a consistent rhythm of assessments to track athletic trends for program refinement.
• Execute the strength and conditioning coach’s role in all phases of return to play.
• Utilize the latest human performance technologies, both software and hardware, to accomplish elite testing and training outcomes.
• Must show proficiency with the following:
o Functional movement-based strength and conditioning
o Velocity based training
o Resisted speed technologies (Example.1080 Sprint)
o Keiser performance products
o Force plate testing and training
o Modern speed training methods (Example. Altis Method)
o Emphasis on training change of direction (COD), braking
o Use of speed and COD software (Example. Vue Motion)
o Objective and subjective readiness to train monitoring methods
o Cloud based strength and conditioning software (Example. TeamBuildr, Bridge Athletic)
o AMS platforms (Example. Kitman Labs, TeamWorks, Apollo, Orecco)

Qualifications & Experience
• 5+ years of experience in strength and conditioning/performance coaching in an elite sporting environment.
• Master’s Degree in Strength and Conditioning, Exercise Science, or other related fields.
• Certified CSCS certification with the NSCA.
• Demonstrated a deep understanding of soccer, athletic development, and the art/science of creating athletic development pathways.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, video analysis tools and other high-performance software.
• Understanding and familiarity of MLS preferred.
• Able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical & Working Conditions
• Based primarily at the Club’s training facility and stadium, with potential regular travel for matches and events.
• Ability execute and demonstrate high velocity movements and gym-based lifting techniques with high proficiency and safety.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds routinely as a part of session set up, breakdown and demonstration.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors environments under varying weather conditions. 
• Travel and irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays are required. 
• Must maintain professionalism and emotional control in demanding or high-pressure situations.
