The Head of Performance Analysis is responsible for leading all video and data analysis processes that support the Sporting Kansas City First Team coaching staff. This role provides insight and clarity across all phases of team preparation — including pre-match, opposition analysis, training, live match support, and post-match review. The position ensures the coaching staff receives accurate, timely, and relevant information to enhance decision-making, player learning, and tactical understanding. The Head of Performance Analysis serves as a key link between data, video, and the coaching process — ensuring that analysis directly informs and elevates team and individual development within the club’s playing philosophy and long-term development framework.

Essential Functions
- Lead and manage the First Team analysis department, overseeing daily workflows, video operations, and data integration aligned with the coaching process.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive analysis framework that supports the club’s playing philosophy, performance identity, and player development objectives.
- Deliver high-quality opposition analysis reports and presentations to support pre-match tactical planning and strategy.
- Support the coaching staff during training sessions through capture, coding, and review of team and individual activities to reinforce learning objectives.
- Provide live match analysis and feedback, supplying in-game insights and video to assist tactical adjustments and player understanding.
- Produce detailed post-match reviews combining video and data to evaluate team performance against tactical principles and player objectives.
- Integrate video and data analysis to provide holistic insights that inform tactical planning, player development, and match preparation.
- Collaborate closely with the coaching staff, Head of Performance, and medical, sports science, and scouting departments to ensure an interdisciplinary approach to preparation and feedback.
- Oversee and innovate the use of performance technologies and analysis systems (e.g., Hudl Sportscode, Spiideo, Wyscout, StatsBomb), ensuring best-practice standards and system efficiency.
- Create and deliver engaging presentation materials (video edits, tactical clips, and data visuals) for coaches, players, and technical meetings.
- Mentor and develop analysis staff and interns, fostering professional growth, collaboration, and consistency in departmental standards.
- Ensure the secure management, storage, and organization of all video and data assets, maintaining a centralized and efficient system.
- Stay current with advancements in analysis technology and global best practices, identifying opportunities to enhance the club’s performance analysis capabilities.
- Provide clear, concise communication of insights to coaches and players, translating data and video findings into actionable recommendations.
- Support long-term tracking of team and individual performance trends to inform player development plans and organizational learning.

Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with the First Team coaching staff, performance, medical, and scouting departments to ensure that all analysis processes are fully integrated into the team’s preparation, feedback, and player development systems. Leadership and Team Development
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to performance analysis staff and interns, ensuring consistent standards, professional growth, and alignment with the club’s expectations.

- Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and development of analysis technologies, workflows, and databases to optimize efficiency and impact.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Sport Science, Coaching, Data Analytics, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in performance analysis, with at least two (2) years at First Team level or equivalent.
- Proven experience managing analysis processes across pre-match, training, live match, and post-match phases.
- Coaching qualification (e.g., USSF or UEFA license) or direct coaching experience highly valued to ensure effective communication with the coaching staff.
- Proficiency in performance analysis software including Hudl Sportscode, Hudl Studio, Wyscout, Spiideo, StatsBomb, or comparable platforms.
- Strong understanding of tactical analysis, match preparation, and performance review processes.
- Experience in managing analysis systems, tagging standards, and video databases.
- Excellent presentation skills with the ability to communicate insights clearly to technical staff and players.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and travel as required by the team schedule.
Physical & Working Conditions
- Based primarily at the Club’s training facility and stadium, with regular travel for matches and events.
- Work involves both on-field coaching and office-based planning environments.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, run, bend, stoop, push and pull as required.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
- Travel and irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays are required.
- Must maintain professionalism and emotional control in demanding or high-pressure situations.
