The Senior Director of Game Presentation & Production is responsible for leading the strategic, creative, and technical execution of all Portland Timbers matchday and live event experiences at Providence Park. This role oversees the full production ecosystem—from show direction and technical operations to storytelling, content integration, and fan engagement. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with a deep understanding of live event production, capable of delivering exceptional experiences that reflect the club’s heritage, culture, and passionate supporter base.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Direction & Show Execution
- Lead the development, scripting, and execution of all in-stadium programming for Portland Timbers home matches, including pre-match, halftime, post-match, and special presentations.
- Serve as the lead show caller for all Timbers home matches and select club events.
- Create compelling show rundowns that align with the club’s brand identity and fan-first philosophy.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with ticketing, marketing, partnerships, and community teams to integrate campaigns and storytelling into live presentations.
Production & Technical Operations
- Oversee all technical aspects of in-stadium production, including LED boards, video content, lighting, and sound.
- Coordinate with broadcast partners, production vendors, and gameday crews to ensure flawless execution.
- Partner with internal creative services to manage the design, timing, and delivery of visual assets and motion graphics.
- Act as the primary point of contact for production-related needs across broadcast, VAR, radio, and other partners.
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise and mentor a team of 2–3 full-time staff and over 30 part-time production personnel, including game presentation managers, show callers, stage managers, DJs, and control room crew.
- Collaborate with external clients utilizing Providence Park to optimize stadium technology and enhance event experiences.
- Manage annual budgets, production timelines, payroll, and vendor relationships.
- Contribute to the broader marketing leadership team, helping shape strategic direction and execution across the organization.
Special Events & Club Initiatives
- Lead live production for major club events such as media day, jersey launches, alumni ceremonies, and milestone celebrations.
- Manage coordination between the Portland Thorns, Live Nation, and other external partners with the stadium production team, ensuring appropriate staffing and equipment support.
- Support the Special Events team with stadium audio/video board requirements and staffing.
- Drive innovation in fan engagement through emerging technologies, storytelling formats, and immersive in-venue experiences.
- Oversee grassroots marketing initiatives.
Game Operations
- Serve as the primary game operations liaison to Major League Soccer, Leagues Cup, and Portland Thorns.
- Develop and manage matchday timelines, league submissions, and operational requirements.
- Stay current on league policies and ensure timely communication of match-to-match updates.
- Coordinate with soccer operations, stadium operations, and security on annual league submissions and matchday logistics.
Preferred Qualifications
- 7 - 8 years of experience in live event production, game presentation, or related fields within sports, entertainment, or broadcast.
- Proficiency with production equipment including Ross Xpression, production switchers, audio systems, Dante/NDI, and LED management tools.
- Experience in crisis management and contingency planning for live events.
- Proven ability to manage complex budgets and vendor relationships with a focus on efficiency and quality.
- Working knowledge of IT and networking to support production troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Media Encoder).
