The Security Manager (SM) oversees all security, including staffing and scheduling for Providence Park in Portland, OR and the Timbers Performance Center (TPC) in Beaverton, OR. This role ensures safety and security of both facilities by maintaining 24/7 security coverage and supervising the in-house event security team.
Key Responsibilities
General Duties
- Hire, manage, train, and deploy security personnel for Providence Park and TPC.
- Participate in, and maintain weekday day-shift presence at Providence Park while ensuring 24/7 continuous facility security.
- Develop and implement staff training related to events and building security to include Providence Park and the Timbers Performance Center.
- Manage direct reports, including Full Time in-house security staff
Timbers Performance Center
- Coordinate with the Senior Manager of Team Operations on scheduling and security matters.
- Administer access control systems, including overseeing issuance of fobs and assigning biometric access (final approval by Director of Security).
- Oversee security-related upgrades, repairs, and alarm systems.
Providence Park
- Manage access control systems and inventory.
- Determine staffing and deployment for all Timbers and Thorns events, collaborating with Fan Experience and private security teams.
- Schedule security support for event setups, including gate screening, road closures, and ingress/egress planning.
- Attend a high percentage of stadium events identified by the Director of Security.
- Oversee stadium command center and credential systems during events.
- Conduct risk assessments and coordinate private security, law enforcement, and in-house teams as needed.
Event Management
- Directly oversee and provide for the safety and security of key events, including major sporting events and concerts.
- Develop, submit and oversee street closure and parking safety plans with PBOT.
- Develop, submit and oversee guest bike and guest bag storage plans.
- Develop and review schedules for Allied Security and In-House Security event day staff, assign risk ratings, and determine travel requirements for security staff.
- Play a key role at events by providing supervision, training and being a resource for escalated issues.
- Serve as alternate team security or liaison for visiting and home supporter groups when necessary.
- Complete and submit all MLS security documentation and reports.

- Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of security experience.
- Willingness to travel as required.
