Player Operations: Equipment Manager
Kick off your sports career with the Portland Timbers and Thorns as the Assistant Equipment Manager.
 
The Assistant Equipment Manager oversees all aspects of the MLS team equipment and gear. The Assistant Equipment Manager works directly for the Head Equipment Manager and Assistant General Manager while reporting to the GM.

Responsibilities: 
  • Provide equipment transportation to and from Portland airport for first team road trips  
  • Provide match day food/beverage spread of approved items in locker room prior to each first team match
  • Fully stock and supply visitors and referee’s locker room for all first team games with complete MLS provided supply checklist
  • Develop and execute budgeting and shopping strategies for providing all game days 
  • Assist with first team training setup and cleanup
  • Manage daily laundry operations for all first team training laundry 
  • Assist with packing and unpacking for first team road trips
  • Assist with preseason receiving of Schedule C deliveries and inventory 
  • Help prepare new training/travel kits prior to preseason training camp
  • Be present and active in game day activities- needed for helping with warmups, managing halftime needs of players, removing unused game uniforms from lockers after halftime, cleaning out home, visitors, and referee locker rooms after match, assisting with postgame laundry, returning boots to training facility etc.
  • Stock and maintain first team restroom toiletries, assuring all necessary items are present and appear neat and organized

 Qualifications: 
  • Be able to work under pressure for long hours
  • Display superb organizational skills
  • Be extremely diligent and meticulous
  • Always have a back-up plan for any gear and/or equipment that’s missing for all training sessions, home matches and away matches
  • Effective management of staff
  • Support the Timbers foundation and community initiatives
