Player Operations: Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapy/Doctor
The academy athletic trainer will be responsible for the care and prevention of athletic injuries for the Portland Timbers Academy.  They will attend all academy team training sessions and matches.  They will also assist with first team, thorns and/or T2 training sessions and home matches based on the academy schedule, planned with the Head and/or Assistant Athletic Trainer.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·         Treat all academy players appropriately and promptly
·         Actively collaborate with the director of sports medicine, academy performance staff, team physician, and coaching staff to plan, execute and monitor return to play protocols. 
·         Comply with all Portland Timbers medical policies, protocols and game operations manual
·         Manage Portland Timbers Academy player injury status and maintain communication with the director of sports medicine, academy director, academy coaches, and players parents or guardian.
·         Present at all academy training sessions and home matches and organize coverage if there are any schedule conflicts.
·         Assist with first team, thorns and/or T2 training sessions and home matches based on the academy schedule.
·         Travel with the academy team for away matches as indicated.
·         Maintain daily cleaning of coolers, squeeze bottles and academy team medical supplies.
·         Maintain proper documentation for all academy treatment and rehabilitation needs with the HealtheAthlete electronic medical record system.
·         Promote Portland Timbers athletic training/sports medicine culture to the academy players.
·         Maintain a positive attitude to help the players succeed in their goals.

·         NATABOC (or CATA) Certified Athletic Trainer
·         In good standing with NATABOC and a member of the NATA (or CATA)
·         State License in the state in which the team calls home, if required by the state
·         Current professional CPR certification
·         FMS certification preferred
·         SFMA certification preferred
·         Display superb organizational skills
·         Possess personal professional liability insurance
·         Minimum four (4) year college/university Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training or Health-Related Field
·         Master’s Degree in related health care field preferred
·         Minimum three (3) years certified athletic trainer experience in a sports environment, preferably with soccer
·         Strong communication skills
