Awarded Major League Soccer’s 16th franchise in 2008, the Philadelphia Union officially took the pitch in 2010 and have been raising expectations ever since. Owned and operated by Union Sports & Entertainment, the Philadelphia Union call Subaru Park home—an 18,500-seat, world-class, soccer-specific stadium set along the Delaware River beneath the Commodore Barry Bridge, just 15 miles from downtown Philadelphia.
On the field, the Union have established themselves as one of Major League Soccer’s most consistent and competitive clubs. The team reached the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final three times (2014, 2015, and 2018), made multiple MLS Cup Playoff appearances, and captured the Supporters’ Shield in 2020 and again in 2025, recognizing the club’s excellence and consistency across the regular season. ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to Academy Operations, the Part-Time Academy Driver is responsible for safely transporting Academy players to and from training sessions, matches, educational programming, and other Academy-related activities. This individual plays an essential role in supporting the daily operation of the Academy by ensuring players arrive safely, on time, and prepared to perform.
The ideal candidate is a dependable, safety-conscious professional who demonstrates excellent judgment, strong communication skills, and a commitment to providing a positive experience for our Academy players and families.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely transport Academy players (minors) to and from Academy training sessions, matches, educational programming, and other Club-related activities.
- Follow established transportation schedules while maintaining punctuality for all pick-up and drop-off times.
- Prioritize the safety, well-being, and professionalism expected when transporting youth athletes.
- Operate Club vehicles in accordance with all federal, state, and local traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure vehicles remain safe, clean, and properly maintained.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned vehicles.
- Communicate effectively with Academy Operations staff regarding transportation schedules, delays, route changes, or player concerns.
- Maintain accurate trip logs, including mileage, fuel usage, and transportation records as required.
- Immediately report accidents, incidents, maintenance concerns, or safety issues to Academy leadership.
- Demonstrate professionalism and represent the Philadelphia Union positively when interacting with players, families, schools, and community partners.
- Assist with other Academy operational needs as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid driver's license with an excellent driving record.
- Previous experience transporting youth, student-athletes, or similar groups preferred.
- Ability to safely operate passenger vans or similar vehicles.
- Strong understanding of safe driving practices and applicable traffic laws.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual, organized, and trustworthy.
- Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in changing or stressful situations.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Academy staff.
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays based on Academy schedules.
- Familiarity with SafeSport principles and youth protection best practices is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit and drive for extended periods.
- Ability to assist with loading and unloading equipment when needed.
- Ability to safely enter and exit passenger vehicles multiple times throughout the day.

- DHS Criminal Background Check (via fingerprinting)
- Annual Safe Sport Certification
- MVR Background Check
